Can you post some pics of the splice block and bolt that required tightening please?

I'll have to do that tomorrow. However, in the meantime I can tell you exactly where it is.

It's on the drivers side of the car, in the engine compartment. All the way in the back there are 2 relays, one yellow, and one black. Pull the relays and right behind them all the way to the left, towards the passenger side, is Splice Block 100. . . bolts are right on top. I think they range from 8mm to 4...

Don't worry about removing the relays and replacing them in the right way.... I worried myself and then found that they only plug back in one way. . you can;t go wrong.

Thanks for the great description. I wonder if the relay on the right had worked its way out of the connection block??? There is no hold down clip for this relay and it is the relay that you connect the piezo buzzer to for the alarm chirp mod. Has this mod been done to your car previously??

Hmmmm... well no mods have been done that I know of. . .

As for the relay being loose, it may have been at one time. However, I have tightened or tapped it at least 5 times over the last months when I would go over the car, hoping it would start....

Either way, I am positive that the relay itself wasn't the issue. I am 100% positive that it was the bolt right behind it.

Glad you were able to fix the problem. FYI, just in case your ESP/BAS light comes back on, check your tire pressure(s). We have found that on my wife's Xfire (2004 coupe), the ESP/BAS light will come on if the tire pressure(s) are low.
