hi all
im having a problem with my automatic crossfire. i took the havd break off and left it for 3 weeks while we had all the bad weather in the uk. now i cant get the gear stick out of park. so i was just wanting to know if any of you can help.
this is my first time on this site so i hope i posted in the correct section i also had a look through the site and couldnt find anything about this problem.

 

i can now get it out of park by using the multi tool but as soon as i put it back in park it is stuck again

 

There are a number of threads on this issue here on the Forum. Do a search and it will list some related threads. It appears to be an electrical system issue. From what I can tell, the gears are controlled by the TCM (transmission control module). It could be this, or some other electrical issue related in the system which could be causing the problem. I'm sure other members will chime in on this, particularly those who have had this or similar issues.

I'd still check out the search function, read some of the threads that appear to be most closely related and keep track of what the various causes an fixes are from there experiences.

Probably electrical, as indicated in the link above. One thing to verify: When you press the brake pedal, do
the brake lights come on? The interlock for Park is triggered by the brake pedal switch, I don't have the manual
with me, but it could be a problem with the brake pedal switch not "telling" the solenoid in the shifter to release.

Search for "Shift stuck in park" and you'll get somewhere!

 

The shifter does this for electrical trouble, usually.
Three weeks sitting could lower battery power, especially if alarm was in the on position.


You might try and charge battery, and reset the system by disconnecting it.

Pizzaguy could be onto something with the brake interlock.

 

Of the threads I read, it is usually something electrical.

The TCM, like mentioned before, a bad sensor plate, the battery or like Pizza mentioned, others have also had the issue of the Brake pedal switch.

One last thought --- have you check the tranny fluid? It's a sealed system but there are also threads on here about how to go about doing it.

Eitherway, use the tool for now. Don't force it to do something it doesn't want to do.
