Re: Just closed the deal on my new roadster.
Honestly I paid well below the buy it now price. This car is a show/driver. It is a number 2 restoration on a scale of 5. Every thing in the car works. I can honestly say it has only been driven anout 2000 miles in the last 10 years. It will hold its own in value and will appreciate. For exanple they were selling for $1500 in 2000. A quality restoration today is running around $20,000 to up to $30,000.
I purchased a TR6 new in 1976 for $4600 and sold it 4 years latter due to a family emergency. So I guess you can say I am buying back something I never wanted to give up. That color is also very rare. It was not my first choice but like many on the forum who [urchased a used Xfire -- quality, etc. trumps color. Just think how that issue is magnified when you are talking about a 36 year old car. I do need to replace the tires with redlines.
Funny they sold almost the same amount of TR6s as Xfires. Also very little changed in the time from 1969 to 1976. Sound familiar. Very much like the Xfire. Most TR6s came to the US.
So is it worth it; at least in my mind it is.

Hawk - Very nice ride. See my pm to you. I grew up with Austin Healeys, Triumphs & MGs.
The TR6 had one of the best stock exhaust note of any affordable production vehicle. Throw some Dunlop Redlines on it and you'll be back in the 70's.
Hopefully you have a Moss Motors catalog handy.
Enjoy the TR6 !

Thanks to all. I just had to share this with you all. I do have a Moss and British Vitoria catalog. One of the really neat things about this car is you can get parts after 34 years. I love my Xfires but I agree the sound of the TR is really sweet.

Wow! Looks like you found a great one. The car has been treated right. My sister had one back in the day and I use to borrow it and drive the heck out of it. What a fun car to drive. Good luck with it. Oh, I remember thoses side drafts were a bit tempermental from time to time. 3rd pulls and pulls. Congrats and enjoy.

My father restored an MGB while I was pretty young, british racing green. These older british cars will always be desireable....
Re: Just closed the deal on my new roadster.
Funny how many of you who have posted had a connection to a British Leyland product and now own a Crossfire. I guess that once you are exposed to a two seat coupe or rag top experience you always come back. I guess it feels good keeping the tradition alive or perhaps it is reliving some of our youth.
I forgot to mention the TR6 and Crossfire have another thing in common -- Karmann coach of Germany. They did the design of the TR6 for British Leyland.
