Default Crossfire Recall - Radiator Hose

Just got my Crossfire back from the dealer after having an oil change. They said there was a recall that went out on the 22nd about repositioning a radiator hose, that was apparently rubbing or melting. Very simple 15 minute fix that just requires a technician to move the hose. We should all be getting something in the mail about it soon.

There was something in the TSB forum, before crossfiretech messed with it, maybe DSFWSBR can find it and repost the info about it. Originaly I thought it wasn't a recall, just a warning? Going for my 1st oil change tomorrow and I'll see what my dealer has to say, probably nothing as usual.

Isn't this old news? I remember going out to see if the top radiator hose was rubbing the hood a few months ago...

If I remember correctly Crossfiretech said to check it and make sure it wasn't chaffing anything. I checked mine and it was fine.

I updated the TSB section weeks ago with this.

Yes, I believe it was a TSB before, but I guess there were enough problems that they made it a recall. They said it became a recall the 22nd.

Default radiator hose

It's a real quick DIY fix. Takes about 5 minutes.

I was just at the Chrysler web page and they're calling it a "Customer Satisfacation Notification" Is this the new name for a Recall or is this just a voluntary repair to some cars? I've never been invovled with a recall so I never seen a recall letter before.

Recalls are generally when the government gets involved. Someone died because of XYZ. This is just an issue where a coolant hose can rub on the fan casing and eventually rub a hole into the coolant hose. Which eventually could cause the coolant to leak out.

You would smell / see this before it ever had a chance to ruin a motor or disable a vehicle. However the "service bulletin" it is out there to make a simple adjustment to prevent this from ever happening.

This isn't a huge issue, it only effects some vehicles outlined in the Service Bulletin. All in all, get yours checked out so you don't have to mess with it later =)

Chrysler diferrentiates between recall types.
Some are for safety reasons:
Safety Recall blah blah blah

Others are to increase customer satisfaction:
"Cusrtomer Satisfaction notification"

IE- Your radiator hose rubbing on the radiator shroud in time may cause a leak... It will however, not cause your brakes to fail and for you to not avoid Bambi standing in the road.. SQUISH!

Just got a call from my 5 Star dealer, asked me to bring car in so they can inspect the radiator hose. Pretty nice, getting the call from the dealer, never ever happen before in all my years of driving. :P

yep, mine called a couple of days ago to set an appt. to bring it in and look at it. told the rep i already knew and had checked it out but they've got to certify that they saw it with their own eyes. i guess that makes sense.
