Default Trunk Panel Separation

Notice the other day that the area between the driver side panel in the trunk and the panel on over the gas tank are beginning to separate. It is a gap about the size of a good inch. Probably from something heavy up against it. Any suggestions?

I'll look when I get home tonight. I think they're access panels for the brake lights. Been awhile since I spent time in the trunk though.

Well it is spacious enough to lay down in. Granted you're in the fetal position, but you're in there.

You do know where the gas tank is I take it?
It's in that bulkhead behind the seats and not under the floor of the trunk.

Yes, I'm aware what the bulkhead is and where the gas tank is located. Here is a photo to explain. Thanks!

Is there a gap above the black retaining pin and the beige roof panel above it? it almost looks like the tab that is on the beige panel is broken and pushed outward.
You can see the tab hanging down in my picture.

I don't believe so. The separation seems to have stemmed from the bulkhead area instead of the side. It looks like the panel covering the gas tank has been pushed in and I don't know how to reshape it, nor remove it.

OK, I see that light colored area to the right of the gap, that is a dent?
If it is a dent then you will have to take out the side panel, this is a pain as to remove it you have to release at least half of the rear panel behind the license plate. That enables the side panel to slide out from behind the rear panel, once that's out you will be able to pull the dented panel into shape.

Right. It's just like too much weight was placed on it. Whoops. Tried to slide it back over, but nee hold of the back too, if you know what I mean. Thanks for the info!
