Hyundai? Focus? did I hear someone got a Pinto
...
My car has been in the shop 4 times, still working on getting the right part fixed. I think I have them on the right track now. I lowest car I have seen was an Exploder (Explorer for those who don't know), right now I have a Jag, it'll be a few days before I return this. It sure doesn't come close to the Crossfire, not very peppy, rough ride... what would you expect from a country that boils all of their food

Hyundai Hell: Day 3
Got a call from the dealer, who says the Crossfire should be ready to pick up tomorrow. Thank GOD!
If there are any Hyundai drivers in the crowd, I apologize in advance for saying... oh, hell, who am I kidding? Are you INSANE? This car is a steaming pile of CRAP. I want my Crossfire back!
Have you ever been forced into an aluminum can and submerged underwater, then rolled around by the waves until you're seasick? While, at the same time, having to listen to a stereo that sounds like AM on every station? No? Drive a Sonata for a few days. Blech.
Words cannot espress how much I really, really hate the Hyundai, especially after having just enough time to get used to my Crossfire.
I really feel for all the people who've had to leave their babies in the shop for an extended stay. You have my deepest sympathies... and if mine's not ready tomorrow, you can have the Hyundai, too. I want it OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY!
Whew. Now I feel better.

Dude, some people can't afford to own Crossfires and BMWs. At least be conscious of that fact. If you want to beat on the Hyundai then be my guest, but don't act like there's no reason for Hyundai to exist.

That would probably be the first time I've ever been called uptight, and it's probably been a good 30 years since someone called me a brat. Come on, guys... I've got a Crossfire, for chrissakes. Compared to THAT, the Hyundai is... well, less than my idea of a perfect car.
In case I was too subtle, the post above would be an example of what we former English majors would call hyperbole; gross exaggeration to make a point. It's a literary device I was using in an (apparently failed) attempt at humor. "I miss my Crossfire, I like it better than a rented Hyundai" would have been something of an exercise in obviousness, now wouldn't it?
Besides, last time I checked, even the most politically correct people drew the line at having to be nice to cars. Especially ugly, gutless, poor-handling, spongy-suspension, cheaply-made, rattly little go-carts like a Hyundai Sonata.
Damn, I went and did it again. Send in the protesters and the Hyundai Anti-Defamation League!

I would have complained the other way on this issue. Calling a Hyundai a steaming pile of crap would be an insult to all of the other steaming piles of crap out there. Since I don't want to get letters defending the other steaming piles of crap I will avoid identifying them. But they know who they are.

Your "sarcastic bashing" of hyundais came accross as the type of remark that would come from a "rich, snobby, takes everything for granted" type person. There are alot of "rich" people in this world that take their wealth and ability to buy nice things for granted, and bash the less nice things... like hyundais. Even though a Hyundai does not compare to a Crossfire in quality, the way inwhich you downtalked it was a bit harsh even if it was a hyperbole.
Actually a friend of mine bought a Hyundai Santa Fe and for a small SUV I was very impressed with it's quality. Even the hood closes with a solid thunk... very much like our beloved Crossfires. The Santa Fe is remarkably solid and has good power of a small SUV.
I would take it over a lot of the oriental SUVs. And some American SUVs as well...But I'll be keeping my Explorer and my Crossfire for many years to come.
All I'm saying is that if you haven't had the opportunity I've had to check one out close up... Don't knock it.... As I did before I knew what I was talking about.

My wife's car is a Hundai Santa Fe, and it is a really stable vehicle. Nice body lines, no problems, reasonable mileage.
No offense, but it was a much better vehicle than the Jeep Liberty or the Ford Escape.....
10 yr / 100000 mile warranty, and it cost less too!
And most importantly, she loves it!!!!

When my friend, who lives in Mass. (we get together a couple of times a year) called me and told me that he had bought one, my first thought was, "why did you buy that piece of crap?" ... I had a picture of it being a little tin box like a Kia Sportage. When he drove it down here last year, I was amazed at how solid and well built it is. I would take it long before I would have a Honda Pilot and Honda builds a good vehicle... But I think the Santa Fe is every bit as well built..... J.M.H.O.

Having driven both, there's no comparison between a Sant Fe and a Sonata... I agree with Trick 100% on the steaming pile of crap. I was in San Diego and Hertz put me a Sonata...V6...auto-stick... I thought wow, ALMOST like my Crossfire...then I got on the road and whew...almost took it back to Hertz till I considered they'd probably trade me into a Focus or some other such crap.
Trick,
I happen to think that everything you have said in this thread is absolutely hilarious. I haven't driven a Hyundai (and hope I never have to) and in no way did I consider what you said "uptight" or "brat-like." I was laughing my *** off! I don't have loads of money, and I don't think you have to be rolling in it to know what a crap car is when you drive one - Hyundai or otherwise.
From one English major to another...

Don't feel bad. I had to take mine in a couple weeks ago. The rental car company they use gave me a Prius. Some hybrid electric thing. It was hillarious. No power. And the dash was the weirdest thing you ever saw. Was I ever glad to get a real car back...........my Crossfire!
We were given a brand new (it had 30 miles on the clock) Malibu, with absolutely no gas in it, it was awful. no guts at all
the best was when we called the dealer he said he wanted to keep the car overnight as they had only been on two tests drives and wanted to make sure the car was right, they took it for another test the next day.. sure enough we had another 100 miles on the clock !!
My best buddy has a 2004 Sonata and it's really nice for the money. Sure it's a soft ride but it's suppossed to be. For 18K it's alot "nicer" than a Focus or Civic if not as sporty.
Now I have been in a rented older generation Sonata that was horrible.
I think most rental cars with a few miles on them ARE crap because they have been abused constantly.
The best rental I've gotten from Chrysler was a Mazda 6 (still it was dirty) and the worst was a Malibu (last gen) and it was terrible.
