Crossfire Vs 350z
I dunno I heard storys about how we can beat them but to no avail, he walked me like a puppy dawg. I know theres quite a difference in HP & Torque and in all the reviews I read they say its faster so no surprise, oh well :?
Done it myself. Gave the guy 3 chances from a stop. Got him on the launch every time. Up to 80mph. I'm sure 1/4 mile he would have caught me in the end. No doubt it is a faster car, but if you launch the crossfire right off the line, you will get a better 60' and the jump from the start.
I bet if the crossfire had smaller wheels it would do even better.

If you want to beat a 350Z, take him to the twisties.
Who CARES what is faster than what in a straight line... what kind of fun is driving in a straight line anyway? Plus you might improve on your driving skill... pushing the gas pedal and upshifting hardly takes skill.

Yeah, that's INSANE. The wheels on my car weigh 22 pounds. Those 54 pound wheels are why you'all are so slow from a dead stop and why you get such bad gas mileage. Buy some nice 30 pound performance wheels and you'll start to whoop on 350Z's.

You can get similar looking wheels that would really increase gas mileage and decrease rotation mass which would ease the engine up a whole lot. I'm just saying that a lighter wheel would be a big improvement, based on the given weight.

Rob M wrote car & driver stated that the rear wheels weigh 54 lbs. each.
And THEN James I think said his wheels weigh 22 lbs....
I think we're comparing apples and oranges here. After I sold my car, I sold my two spare rear wheels, with centers but NO Tires, and my extra new front wheel, no center, but WITH a brand new Michelin mounted with the TPM sensor in.
Looking at the shipping tickets now...each rear wheel, sans tire but in probably 3 lbs of shipping material, weighed 32 lbs according to UPS. So figure each bare rear wheel is 29 or so lbs.
The FRONT wheel with the tire was 51 lbs, again with about 3 lbs of shipping material, so figure 48 or so lbs for a front wheel/tire assembly, that much more for the larger rear wheel tire assembly.
So, James, the weight of your wheels is probably without tire, the weight quoted in car and driver, as Heb80 pointed out, is probably WITH the tire.
For what it's worth...

A crossfire wheel may sound heavy in comparison to an RSX wheel, but when you consider that the facial area is 40% larger, the circumferance is 20% larger, and the width is 30% greater, not to mention the wheel is designed to handle very low profile tires (wheel has to absorb more impact), and designed to handle high speeds, the 29lbs i'd say is within reason.
Yes, but all I'm saying is that you can still find aftermarket wheels that would be lighter than stock that would ease the load on the engine and benefit the car in terms of performance and economy. That's all. Even 18 and 19 inch wheels.

Let's all chip in and buy him some Crossfire letters for his tricycle...

that might be true, but we wouldnt be whoopin on 350z, as you said, if we did. i would guess anything but of a pure racing wheel in a 19 inch rim with a 19 inch tire would way at least 42lbs. dont forget, 19inch tall, 255mm width tires way alot more than 17inch tall, 205mm tires like those on your rsx.
