Odd discovery while hand washing!
Maybe I'm just not as familiar with my XF as I thought, but experienced a new event the other day.
I was hand washing the area up and around the (stock) exhaust ports and the car went into lock down mode! Pushed the area again and it UNlocked! Did it again with same results. No, my wife wasn't around the corner with the remote key either
Is this is a known feature of the XF?
Visual exam revealed nothing unusual. Could not find an exact "spot" that activated the response. Either Creepy, or very useful in a "left the key in the ignition and locked the door" moment.
Anyone else have this happen?

Did you have the key fob in your pocket? I've had the buttons push while bending over when the key fob was in my pocket. I can only assume that other stuff in the pocket was lying next to the fob and when I bent over the stuff was pushed into the fob buttons. Just a thought.
OK, I can't resist. I have to tell this story. My uncle passed away not long ago, and while attending the funeral, we were all outside reminising the wild things my uncle use to do. My uncle had 7 kids, 6 girls, 1 son. The son took it the hardest. My uncle was the youngest of 8 kids, and I was closest to him over the years. So, while standing there, across the road where my Jeep Grand Cherokee was parked, the headlights came on. I called my cousins over to me and said, look. Well, they said you are making it do that. I said no, I think your dad is playing a trick on all of us. I took the key fob out and held it up. The jeep continued to do this on and off for some time. It made my cousin, his son, feel better. Now, you think I did this, no, the jeep did it. I was ready to take it to the dealer, but the jeep never displayed this behavior again...true story...who knows...

Yes....and if it does happen again there may be a circuit ground problem???
OK, OK, next washing I'll leave the fob in the house THOUGH IT WAS IN THE IGNITION WITH THE RADIO BLARING at the time of this mystery. Maybe it was my 1,800 volt AICD (super pacemaker) reacting somehow. Rush 549: At age 61 I'm sure it was not the squealing girl theory..I'd rather have a talking frog as the joke sez.
You don't need the key in the ignition to play the stock radio. Just push and hold the "on" button for a few seconds. More info needed on how you found the "G" spot of your car.

If you unlock the car with the remote and never open the door the car will lock itself back up in about 30 seconds automatically.
So if you get out of the car and lock the doors... Then hit the unlock button on the remote and never open the door.... The car will automatically lock back up in about 30 seconds or a minute.
So no... It is not they key fob in your pocket.

I've experience both -- mystery locking only to ascertain the key fob was in the pocket and when I bent down the button was pushed ---- and the other mystery -- why the hell is my car locked when I know I unlocked it syndrome (only to then have a vague memory of the auto relock feature if you don't open a door within 30 seconds).
It doesn't matter which one caused the mystery -- only that it is solved.
Now, let's get this thread going back in the right direction ---- realizing that these girls are indeed a mystery sometimes -- but that's what makes them so special............

OK. blackcrossfire07 has solved the mystery in the most logical way.
Larry Hize has read the Owners Manual but does not remember all of it.
Using blackcrossfire's logical way of thinking I suspect that Larry Hize is not a man, after all men do not read manuals or instructions.
Elementary my dear Watson.

The actual events as stated do not fit the scenario outlined by blackcrossfire, but possibly the key fob was in the pocket, triggered and .....
The answer is good enough for me, as the original theory is just not plausible.
Or is it, I call my car Christine because it has done some weird things, maybe she has a sister.

Onehundred....
First... my post was dirrected to pacemaker... not Larry.
You guys must really abuse your key fobs because I can't see how our fobs could act up in a pocket. Those buttons are pretty difficult to push accidentally in your pocket. In 6 years I never had that happen with the crossfire but I did have it happen with other cars. Who knows! And 6 years of ownership and daily use and my fob or battery never acted up once.... still original battery.
It is nice to get beat up for offering an honest solution to the problem and trying to help. The auto lock feature has thrown me for a loop and I am willing to bet this is his problem (despite what he thinks). Maybe the people around here picking on me are so old you are losing your minds.... maybe you forgot you pushed the lock button and accuse the car of acting up.
I don't know.... but I will go back into my corner and shut up. Let the experts like One-hundred around here figure it out on your own. My 6 years of ownership mean nothing here! Open up my mouth and try to help is obviously a mistake. I have been quiet for a few weeks so I will go back in my corner now.
