Crossfire Ownership Costs...
So many people visit this site asking about the cost of ownership of a Crossfire. We warn them about how expensive the oil changes can be and other misc. expenses.
I found IntelliChoice reviews interesting. While they only review the 2007 & 2008. the coupe gets an "excellent" rating and the roadster gets an "average" rating.

If you don't count the mods, my car has been very cheap to maintain. At 85,000 miles I have replaced the battery, and one burnt out tail light, one burnt out front side marker bulb and a steering stabilizer. I do the oil changes to that is very reasonable.
My total maintenance and repair costs for my 2004 Coupe are less then $800 over the first 7 years of ownership. Probably time for new spark plugs and fluid changes in the Spring. Original Michelin PS2s should last another 3 years at which point they will be replaced whether or not there is any remaining tread. OK, so it only has 20K miles

I've spent more than $800 just on tires since I bought my car SRT two years ago.
Plus three (maybe four) oil changes, two spark plug changes, new alternator, IC pump. Parts alone on the listed above are probably near $800...not including install costs for the alternator/IC pump. However, I wouldn't trade that for anything. The car is well worth it.
...that doesn't even include the price for the modifications
I'm about to spend a good bit of $$$$ getting the 35k mile tune up. Plugs, oil, filter, all fluids. etc. It is about time to change the transmission fluid. Then it will be good for the rest of the life of the car.
My only expenses on the 2005s have been annual oil changes, K&N air filters, and I replaced the rotors/brakes on the SRT6 when I bought it used since they at least one rotor was warped. I did have a air sensor pop out on the SRT6 that cost me $100 at my indy garage to find and re-install. Still on original tires and batteries for both. Oh -- I replaced the roadster's front brakes with low dust pads, but that was because I am lazy and not because it was needed. So I'm averaging maybe $250/yr for repairs/maintenance for BOTH cars. Now, registration in MI is a lot higher than the analysis, being based on original sales price.
My Black SRT6 Roadster is the cheapest car I have owned. 0 depreciation, positive value increase. No finance charge, repairs and maintenance cost $95 including oil, filter, paint wax and Waxoyl. insurance is part of a group buy @ $600. Paid monthly as is property tax. Facilities cost not determined as it is a playground. I LOVE the CAR.

Maybe ive had bad luck, but ive had engine oil leaking problems, bent rims, about 10 tires with nails, the TPMS system i just disabled because everytime I pop a tire, they ruin the sensor changing the tire out. Cupholder is stuck up, broken mirror switch, the AC fans speed up and slow down as they please, many headlights that burn out after a month or so (and no i dont touch them with my bare hands).
So all in all, ive had so many expense with this car, i could never recommend it to someone. Not to mention Carmax offers me $5k, and no one wants to buy it private-party for $7.5k. Its excellent condition and 99k miles, garaged and detailed meticulously. The whole Chrysler name just ruins the value of this car.
wow.........

Punctures and rims are just bad luck, they could have happened in a Camry.
I'd say the worst maintenance issue dollar wise would be tires. 18 and 19" tires are not cheap, especially reputable brand with a performance focus. Otherwise, mine has been pretty good up to 33k miles...couple of burnt out lights here and there are cheap easy fixes. On the oil change front, because the vehicle only needs it every 7500 miles it equals out to the same as a normal car needing a change every 3000 miles. YMMV.
I would say that tires, mods and ownership tax are my highest costs (besides monthly payment). I don't think I will drive my Crossies gently soon, so this a calculated expense.
Drive hard and enjoy or stay home.
I'm at 59k on my 2005 coupe. My butt heater is burned out and I don't have the $450 or so to fix it. Otherwise a set of winter tires and wheels for $1200 and $800 for a set of Vredesteins last year. Also burned out two headlights (at different times) but the dealer also broke the mount and replaced it under warranty. When the headlight burned out again (about two years later) I replaced both for around $60 with a different dealer. (The original dealer backed out of handling Chrylser.)
2005 purchased in 2007 with 61 miles - now have 46,000 miles or care free driving. I drive it daily 12 months a year. Only oil changes and filter changes, one AM radio relay replaced under warranty, and a set of used snow tires/rims - till driving the original PS2 but this may be the last summer.
Overall the most reliable and cheapest car I have driven in my 38 years of driving. And best of all - one of the most fun to drive (still have to give the Most Fun to my old BMW 635 - but it was very needy)

Maybe I am missing something here, but I saw some people at well over 70K talking as if they have spent no money on maintenance and I am just in awe because my last car had almost 70K on it and I had done the following routine maintenance and it cost much more than many people here are reporting, and that is just for the parts. If someone had to have the dealer do all this, I would hate to see what it would cost.
- Rear differential Fluid
- Transmission Fluid
- power steering fluid (I think)
- Coolant
- Shocks all around
- brake fluid

My Conti Touring Contact rears look a little thin at 15,xxx miles (fronts are just fine tho, thank you very much).
But I haven't decided whether to stay with all seasons or go with separate summer and winter tires ... I am tired of the "thump, thump thump" over every slight road imperfection.
But I'm also juggling replacing the OEM brake pads up front with ceramics, rear shocks, and a host of (tasteful) appearance mods.
Which wouldn't be a problem ... but the better half needs work done on her Charger and Jaguar XJS (aka the Money Pit
)
ah, the problems of low-mileage cars, especially 20+ year old Jags with less than 40,xxx miles :ugh:
At least my low mileage trophy car can do daily driver duties HAH!

It is truly scary that we have come to this in this county...........our standard of excellence is a Camry.

If my wife knew the true cost of ownership, she'd want me to either sell the roadster or spend the same amount on her. Hmm, I'm going to have to seriously think about this in case the topic ever comes up for discussion.
