Just Picked an 04 up. Gap Insurance though?
Hey Everyone. First let me say thank you.. I researched the crossfire and read the forum information to get everything from feedback and price ideas. I finally got a Saphire Silver Blue one. I bought it before turning in my previous lease. I just couldn't take knowing the last one was going to go before the $2500 rebate ends. SO I snagged it on 5/05. ONE QUESTION. Since I leased it... I was offered GAP insurance . Now I said no at first and discussed this back and forth with the finance guy until I agreed to take Gap insurance but only at discounted price about half of what was offered to me first. HAS ANYYONE ELSE ON HERE CHOOSEN GAP INSURANCE? I have 60 days to get a full refund.. and I can also cancel GAP any time and stop paying. (thats what I was told..) OTHER Than that. I love this car and love being one of the very few in my area to have one. Im going to be adding a DVD Player to the Xfire. Has anyone added an aftermarket stereo head unit or dvd player to the stock speakers?
Welcome and just so you know, you picked the "best" color!!! Manual ot stick???
Can't tell you anything about Gap insurance... I'm sure someone else will jump on that for you.
As for the stereos... do a search, there are several threads on the subject.

Mrodfire, there are lots of policies offered by various sources that hold themselves out as "gap" insurance. They all seem to have different terms. One yardstick I use is the gap and other types of policies (e.g., extended warranties) offered by WarrantyDirect.com. They post all their policies, terms and prices on the internet. I gravitated toward them because they have been in business about 25 years and are not an internet startup. While I did not purchase gap insurance, the comparison of their prices and policies of all types to those offered by dealers is very educational.
From your post, it doesn't seem like you leased. The standard Chrysler CF lease has a form of gap insurance in it that is set out in such a weasel-worded way that a host of lawyers would have trouble understanding it.
Hope this is of some assistance.

We almost got the red version but I have a Anniversary Corvette and a Tundra stepside that are red-ish. We thought we had enough red for now.
We also got the discount. The 04 with the discounts really seem to be a good value. We took our first trip in this weekend. The car is great but the cup holder is about as bad as the Z3's.

my friend is the manager of a credit union - I had her finance my crossfire and she did sell me gap insurance. It was $195 and will pay the difference of what you insurance will pay if it is totaled and what you owe on it. Plus they give me a thousand dollars to use as a down payment on your next car...
I am not sure who they are using but this is the first time they have ever offed it as other "gap insurance" plans are not up to par that they have looked into in the past.
If you are finanacing more then 60 months and did not put anything down then there is a good chance you will always be upside down on your car untill the last couple of years. Not knowing what the residuals on this car will actually be I thought it was well worth $195 plus if somthing does happen it cost me negative $805

I work at a chrysler dealership in orlando florida, and have been eyeing a six spd sapphire silver blue for 4 weeks now. And with that lease offer, I can't pass it up. Alot of leases come standard with gap insurance. Even if they do not, it is always a good idea, Especially if you bought it at half price. See when you lease the payoff is determined by your remaining payments plus the residual. So if you have a low payment lease, such as the 299 program, your payoff will always be high even to the end, do to the fact that you are paying so little toward ownership. Anyone who leases should get some time of gap insurance. great color choice btw, can't wait to pick mine up.
