What's that? What's what? Its a squeaking sound...
"You couldn't hear a dump truck driving through a nitro glycerin plant" LOL
But seriously, when I turn my wheel, I hear a squeak. When I turn in the other direction the squeak gets louder. And I mean LOUDER. Its really annoying. I hit a pot hole about three weeks ago but didn't hear any squeak till yesterday.
So.....back and forth on the steering wheel and I get squeaks coming from deep inside the dashboard. Please help.
Hope you enjoyed the Christmas vacation reference.

My advice....only drive straight, this way no squeaking. But, have you checked the serpentine belt. Could be worn and squeaking on the pulleys when the wheel is turned. Open the hood, have someone turn the wheel and try to get a better idea of where the sound is coming from.

There are a lot of rubber bushings in the suspension and steering. I liberally spray (the femine hygiene spray reference was ******) mine annually with a good silicone spray and it seems to reduce the squeaking. Does it make noise whether moving or parked?

OK update.
During lunch I went into the parking garage where its nice and quiet. I started the car and made sure the wheels were straight and I was on a level surface.
Soooo, when I turn the wheel either right or left there is literally a 2 to 3 inch dead zone. Then a slight what seems like a "thunk". In the dead zone the squeek is subtle. After the "slight thunk" the squeak becomes louders. Definitely sounds like its coming from inside the dash but that could be deceiving.
Please help. LOL

Not sure what sound the steering damper makes but another member describes it as a grinding noise.
The steering damper is on the very bottom of the car about a foot in front of the instrument cluster. Very easy to check.
