Default should i be mad

OK as you guys know my car is at the dealer for the oil leak and an wheel aliment.

well one reason i choose this dealer ship is because they said that they would keep my car in the inside of the shop when they close.

first let me say i drop my car off to them Thursday..

the issue stared Friday night, i drove by at 2am to see if it was out side or if in fact they had put it in side as they said they would. to my surprise it was out side on the back wall with out other cars around it... at this point i was angry, so angry i wanted to just pull out my spare key and hide the x fire..

OK so i go home and go to sleep, i wake up at 9am and call the service manager, and explain to him i was assured that they would put my car in the bay when they close. he says no one should of told you that, then he goes on to say we have 30 million dollars worth of cars out there we don't put them in side when we close. i go on to tell him i don't care about a charger or a challenger or any dodge they have on the lot. after a few words he says i will drive it in personally. i agree that would be best and we end the call.. "this was Saturday" now Sunday morning at 10am i drive by and what do i see.....

well you see the picture. my car out side after the manager told me it would be inside. so today is Monday i call the general manager and explain to him what was said. he says no one should of told u they would bring my crossfire in side, but because they did he would check in to it and ensure my car would be put in the shop if there not done with my car tonight.

so when i get off at 1am i will drive by to see if my car is out side.

my question is do i have the right to be upset at what has happen... also am i the only one who does not what there car left out side

I would be upset. They can look at the car and tell that is cleaner than a new one off the truck. How do they think that happens? Only happens if someone loves the car and takes good care of it.

I took back my car once from a dealer once. They were supposed to fix my spoiler. Scheduled a week before my appointment, dropped it off right when they opened and was assured they would get to it right away (meaning that day) and call me as soon as they knew what was wrong with it.

Later that day, after I had waited until they almost closed (5pm, so just before that), they still hadn't called me to tell me what was wrong, so I called them. Turns out they didn't even look at it and instead left it in the back lot, covered in snow. I told them I wanted the car back and they tried to say that they needed to keep it because they hadn't done any work yet. I told them that was exactly the problem and that they should have told me if they couldn't get to it, and they definitely shouldn't have left it to sit in the snow and salt that is Chicago in the winter time.

So I demanded my car back and took it somewhere else that actually did the work when they said they would.

If a dealer (meaning anyone that works for them) says they will do something and they don't or they do the exact opposite, you have every right to be pissed. I would usually take my XF somewhere else just to be safe now that I know that dealer lies to its customers (and because they're probably inevitably pissed at me because I'm pissed at them).

Just take it somewhere else and tell them you will be contacting Chrysler about their poor service. Chrysler is usually on-top of customer complaints about their dealers these days now that Fiat took over.

You have a right to be mad about them lieing to you, but do you always keep the car in a garage at home?

I would be SUPER pissed in this instance because I spent a great deal of money to build a garage and pour a driveway to ensure my vehicles stay inside. If I lived in an apartment where it sat out every night, I don't think I would have a right to be upset with them leaving it out....

Demetrius - This is why people steer clear of dealers whenever possible. Keep us posted on how they do with the oil leak and alignment. Only a few dealerships still have trained Crossfire techs. Good luck.

lie to me once is enough.
the dealer has lied to you twice.
wonder what he did to you car???
i am old fashion and believe a hand shake between men is enough.
would never do business with this dealer again.
turn him into chrysler so others will be warned.
seems like a "meinke? type of guy.

Do you have a right to be mad sure, but its a crossfire not a Viper or any other exotic. Should something happen to the car the dealership could/would be liable for the damage. What good does it do for you to be upset about it. The dealer lied, shock and surprise.

hey Jim this, they did fix the oil leak and the alignment is great now.
i have called Chrysler and filed a complaint. The complaint dept manager called me back but i missed her call. Chrysler seems to want me to be happy so lets see how they fix this. when i filed my complaint they wanted to know what kind of comp i was looking for. i told them i was not looking for any comp, i just wanted to know when a dealer says they will do what a customer asked for, they do it. They seem to wanna give me something so i will she what there offering.

your right its not a viper, but to me this is the closet i will get to a viper for now. I treat my car great, so when i hand my car over to a dealer i expect them to do the same.

I would expect them to be. You are right, there's nothing they can do to really fix it now. It may seem like a minor transgression to other people but to us XF owners, we expect the dealer to treat the car how we treat it.

And Boiler, me and you usually see eye-to-eye on most stuff. I don't think that just because someone's XF is parked outside from time to time, or even all the time, it's really the principle of the matter. My XF spends most of it's time outside or in a parking garage, but I try to take as good of care of it as I can. I would be twice as mad if a dealer told me they would keep my car inside and then left it out all night if they were in a not-so-good neighborhood.

It really is just the problem of the service writer or porter or whoever telling our friend that they would keep his car inside then leave it out all night, twice. It's not something that deserves a good kick in the nads, but it does deserve some stern words and a complaint. I wouldn't trust this dealer after that.

I went to steelerships only for warranty work. I now have a friend that works on European cars only at his shop and go there when I need to. Yes, I'd be pissed too if they told me that and they didn't abide.

I hear what you are saying, but we are still talking about a 10-12K car here, that is possibly kept outside its entire life anyway, with far less security than a dealers lot with 30 mil worth of rolling stock. Between 50K pickups, vipers, prowlers, etc I am sure another used XF is just another car - quite obviously no one here feels that way, but that is the reason my car has never seen a dealership. I would be pissed about being lied to, but a car sitting out overnight in a dealers secure lot is much less agregious than many other dealer faults I have heard here on the forum...
