Default Spoiler dying?

My spoiler goes up very slow and is very loud, asif the motor is straining/burning out. Anybody have this problem?

Mine just started doing it today for the first time, but it was 95 degrees here and the car was sitting in the sun all day. I'm wondering if its weather related.

I tried it again this morning and it seems to be about back to normal. I'm wondering if its the combination of the 95 degree air along with the 98% humidity that we had yesterday. I'll try it again this afternoon to see how it is after sitting in the sun and humidity again.

You could always try doing a bit of lubing it yourself. If it's still intermittently problematic, you might consider taking it in, as there have been limited reports here of spoiler problems requiring replacement of the spoiler motor.

I have had mine serviced twice for Spoiler squeekage.

Started during a really wet set of days (but Indiana, so heat is not a common factor between us). I thought it might be taking longer but its not the kind of thing you can really tell unless its way way way longer.

The noise level was terrible, though, could not drown it out with the radio. Anyway, my wife took it in first, and they did a simple lube of the externally accessable areas. No good. I might have been a little better but only a very little.

I got home from my trip and took it in myself, they opened up the whole thing, cleaned it out and re-lubed it from the inside-out.

Quiter now than the day I bought it. I didn't think it was overly loud before, but now its nearly silent (with windows up anyway).

Well just got home from work and it seems to be back to its quiet self again. I have an appt next week to have the radiator hose looked at, I'll have them look at the spoiler too.

If you take the cover off on the rear hatch and look at the gears on the spoiler you'll notice it doesn't come from the factory with any grease. Would I consider adding any, not really. Depending on what the gears are made of, you can cause more problems if the wrong lubricant is used.

My spoiler is functioning fine now, but I had them check it while I had it in to have the radiator hose adjusted today. Thiis is what it says on the paperwork:

CHECKED FOR DTC IN REARSPOILER MODULE - 1 FOUND - HEX CODE - 1217-0000 - UNRECOGNIZED 85412300 YN B03 8267
DTC. NO DIAG FOUND FOR THIS CODE.

anybody know what exactly they did?

When I first took mine in for it's spoiler issue, it also had a code that wasn't documented. I don't have the code number to compare what you have.

I intended only the external linkage parts (that do the most 'moving'). If it's not those, I'd be all about taking it to the dealer and say 'fix it please'.
