Ok, I will remove the belt, fire her up, and report back. Thanks fellas. I hope this isn't serious, this car is never being abused. It is a daily driven, babied car. I will first check the alternator, and then the water pump.

The fact that he has no loss of drivability suggests something simple. Outside the engine.

Agree with these guys......... sounds like something vibrating or loose, not in the engine (given how you described sound and drivability). Pully, fan, belt, etc. I would give externals a good going over first. Hope it's something simple.

Had the same thing on my roadster few weeks back. At idle car sounded terrible at speed no noise at all. New water pump did the trick.

Muscle, I am hoping you tested the pulley's and found the alt as the problem... anything that makes the belt loose/slip could cause the alt not to be spinning at correct speed... Just sayin....

Hope that you get that terrible noise resolved and back on the road....

**UPDATE**

I just got done installing the Alternator, and as soon as i cranked the motor, the battery light went away, the weird sound is gone, but now BAS ESP light is on. Any thoughts?

I think it was the alternator, I honestly gambled, and bought the alternator for 200 bucks.

That weird sound would sometimes go away with the alternator, so, since it has been idling quiet and nice, I am hoping that I have fixed the issue. (fingers crossed).

Chances are your BAS/ESP light is just on because you cut power - it'll do that sometimes.

Turn your wheel all the way to the left lock and then all the way to the right lock and the BAS/ESP should reset.
