Regarding the lack of a "decent" cupholder in the Crossfire... It's my understanding that here in the states people put a lot of emphasis on cupholders, but that in Europe people don't expect cupholders in their cars. Is this true? Perhaps some of our European friends here can comment on the prevelance/expectations of cupholders in vehicles overall in their market.

Over in Europe, we are getting used to cars being fitted with several cupholders. There are more than enough cupholders in the Voyager. The PT Cruiser has enough cupholders for the family, but drinks do fall over occasionally. I don't use the cupholder in the XF (as I tend to have Sports-cap bottles for drinks). I would have thought that DC would have put 2 decent cupholders in the XF. Does anyone know if the SLK has cupholders :?:

I would prefer proper storage to hold a few of my CDs :!:

If ANYONE thinks the Crossfire cupholder is terrible, it's at least no bad compared to what M/B gives SLK owners. Look here:

http://www.slk32.com/pages/cupholder/cupholder.html

That thing's practically obscene :!: (though it DOES supposedly hold two cups).

That SLK cupholder looks just like the one in my husband's old 1997 Dodge Ram. Beverages used to tip out of that one all the time. It ruined the beige upholstery.

My cupholder works great.

I have filled it with plain water and tried to toss it, but haven't been able to so far. It's all a matter of having the right cup. Bean Street, Starbucks, 7-11, Circle K, etc. sell mugs that work great.

Now I see what those hooks behind the seat are for! (Pic 2) What other uses do we have for them?

I'm a skinny bugger, so my right elbo fits just fine right beside the cup with arm laying towards the shifter. Since I've got an auto, I can wrist shift rather than having to move my whole arm and worry about dislodging the coffee. I can't LIVE without coffee...

The one on the p-side that you can't see has my office/rescue keys. There's a wad of 'em I don't particularly like in my pocket, so I have 'em on one of those mini carabiner keychains, snaps right on the hook.

I'm on the large side, lol, so the cup holder is a moot point. I need the space to rest my elbow.

I've managed to abstain from coffee for the 25 min. it takes me to get from my last cup at home to the first cup at work.

I get to enjoy my "for the ride" coffee when I drive the Jeep GC but the ride is NOT nearly as much fun. I'll live with it.

It sits directly on the floor, right in front of the seat, one on each side of the center console.... $2, quick fix.. works great.

Being a GIRL and all, I have a use for the hook that you guys don't. I set my purse on the back of the console between the seats when I have a passenger and hook my purse handle. When I first got the car, my purse went flying forward a few times when I braked, so I learned the hook is handy to prevent that. That way I have my cell phone handy (instead of having it unreachable when my purse is in the trunk).

Ok, David Burns, you've convinced me. I'm turning my "junk drawer" into a cellphone holder! A picture says a thousand words ...
