my final grille mod.
Re: my final grille mod.
I like that! Did you paint over the chrome trim on the grill, or remove it?
Please tell us what specifically what brand and shade of paint you used, and where you got it. My top windshield trim piece has lost about 75% of the color coat, leaving it looking ragged, I'd like to do that and the grill.

What proceedure did you use? Strip the grill and spray or just spray over it?

On the black coupe, the color matching of the grill with the wheels, windshield surround, door handles, etc. really ties the color scheme together since the front was the only area of the car missing this color combination. I think, on the black car at least, this beats the chrome I was considering.
Thanks again- your pics pushed me to it and the whole family thinks it made a world of difference (in a good way).

We want closeups not like Arado who took his photo from too far away because the gleam from all that chrome hurt his eyes.

By the way, Duplicolor wheel paint (Auto Zone) looks like it matches the other trim perfectly. The leftover is going toward curb rash now that I learned how that is done--hint: dremel tools are great.
I expect some pics of your engine as well in return.

Re: my final grille mod.
Well, this turned out to be harder than I thought. Even after several coats, that wheel paint was impossible to get even. In the sunshine, there were always areas that looked haevier than others (I am also not a paint can artist). So, I took the time to sand down the finish and recoat with Rustolem Aluminum Matte finish and that came out fine. I then used 3 coats of clear laquer (Rustoleum, if anyone cares) to gloss it up. I believe it came out fine this time. I will be reinstalling later today and will try to put up some pics.
I also found out that the reason my first trial had spits all over it was that my Auto Zone removes all of the caps from spray paint to keep people from trying them in the store. When you check out, they give you a cap. Unfortunatley, the one they gave me looks big enough for undercoating. When I changed it out and used a cap from paint I had on hand, it worked fine. They were no help when I asked for another can of paint to make up for the ruined job either. Just FYI.
