8) We did it so long ago, but if i remember correctly, the ignition needs to be on when programming. If that doesn't work, let me know. Hopefully it will.

I followed the manual instructions and had no problem. It was on an opener that is at least 15 years old - maybe newer ones or specific models don't work.

My homelink system works great and it has two different brands of garage doors programed into it. As does my father's Concorde and my mom's Caravan.

Thanks Cee Bee,

I just read the manual again...It says to Turn off the engine. But I will go try again with the key turned on.

Thanks for the reply

Mine works fine (a unknown vintage Chamberlain). The range is better than the two mini remotes I had before, and at least as good as my wife's Murano. Irks me that power is killed to it IMMEDIATELY when you turn off the key, so many other things gracefully shut down (stereo, lights, etc.) I wonder why they didn't give the Homelink buttons a littel extra time?

As for that Genie Intellicode, it probably uses "rolling code" technology. If you press and hold the button after programming, does it blink rapidly for ~ 2 seconds? If so, you need to follow the "rolling code" special instructions. They should be in the manual on how to get the Homelink working with those. Or try here: http://www.homelink.com/program/gdo.html

Program it with the key on, somewhere away from your garage. Hold your transmitter close and push buttons as directed in the manual.

I use the left hand button for my garage door opener, the outer right button for gate exit and inner button for gate entry, works great! Range is not all that wonderful though, but is adequate.

Mine works fine. My door openers are from sears and I got them in 1999 - I was suprised, obviously the code hoping technology means nothing if my car's homelink system can learn it...

-marc

p.s. I think chamberlin makes all the craftsman door openers

It probably is your garage door opener. I've gotten it to work on my 300m and Crossfire, each on the first try. I think I have a Sears Craftsman door opener.

Funny you should mention that.... I'm quite satisfied with the range on my Crossfire, but not on my 300m. I wonder why that is.

You have to make sure your garage door open is compatable. It has to operate at the correct frequency. I have a Clopay opener and they use a different frequency. Some of the companies are changing the frequency and homelink isn't keepeing up. You then have to buy an adapter that changes the frequency of the opener. If you contact homelink, they can tell you what frequency they require then contact the opener company and see if it's the same. After buying the adapter mine now works.

I think they make about 75% of the openers on the market. Go to their web site, they list about a dozen different brand names and there are others (like Sears/Craftsman) that aren't so advertised but are obviously OEM's.

Hmmm... hope D/C doesn't follow that route... one chameleon job from the SLK-320 is enough.

The homelink system is in pretty much all makes and models.. not just D/C. This includes Americans/Asians/Germans... Pretty universal setup (bad pun)

I got mine to work with both my opener and the one at my mom's house. Depends on the opener you have whether you sync with the remote or the main unit. I tried with the remote and it didn't work. Then tried with the main unit's "learn" button and it worked great. Be sure to do the "clear codes" instructions in the owner's manual first.

8) Yoo Hoo Cruiser....

We haven't heard from you in a couple of days.

 Does that mean you:

a) Got it to work OK
b) Have been in the garage for 3 days trying to make it work
c) Gave up on it completely
d) Decided to call Homelink 3 days ago and are still on hold pushing buttons in their automated system

Don't keep us wondering .... inquiring minds want to know

Hi CEE BEE!

Well....I tried and tried..But finally gave up. Guess I will just use the one on the visor.

Got to thinking, with my nails, I would probably never hit one of those "tiny" buttons on the first try :P

We go to Vegas alot during the year...But we fly in..We do alot of Trade Shows in Vegas for our clients.

Great City

What a shame you cannot get the buttons to work.

So ... if you don't usually drive to Vegas - it would be a different way for you to get here if you join us on September 11th for our Hook-Up!!
