Default Silver Windshield Trim Loose

It seems that the silver trim on my '04 Limited Coupe is coming loose.

I discovered this one day after I got home from driving on the highway. The middle silver trim piece was lifted in the corner and sitting on top of the driver's side trim piece. I was able to pop it back into place.

Later, after careful inspection, it seems what holds it on are a couple of fasteners and some super adhesive tape. It seems that the tape had worn out but other than that it didn't appear to be missing anything.

I have tried fixing this myself with fresh tape...I even created a brace from the ceiling of my garage to the trim piece to keep pressure on the tape overnight! That held it for about a week. But now seems that the driver's side trim piece is lifting slightly too.

My local Chrysler dealer quoted me $416 to fix this, but I am convinced I can take care of this myself somehow. After all, it seems pretty straightforward.

Has anyone else had experience with this issue? I truly appreciate your insight.

You might read some of Boilerupxfire's posts about his graphite coupe... I believe he took all that trim off, had it refinished and put it back on himself.

Or, PM him and see what he can tell you.

LOL, yeah I had to use some 3M double sided adhesive tape to reapply some of the clips with worn out tape under them.

I simply removed the old tape, rubbed everything down with alcohol and cleaned it well, reapplied correct size tape and have had them on 9+ months with no problems.

Hope this helps.
