The part number was in the parts lists, you can download that as well. Find the Mercedes part number for the part and buy it, it will be cheaper, maybe 2/3 rds the price at least. Chrysler will buy it there and mark up the price for you.

This should be the Mercedes number 168 460 01 49 list price about $180.

From the same place, so no matter what the part is they will discount you as per the factory list price. I'd say that was basically if not actually unlawful. Definitely unethical as they are not giving you the best price if you use the Chrysler part number to order. But who said business had to have any ethics.

Dave, the site won't let you hotlink a search... it defaults every time.

Trust me, I tried to edit

It's all about the FOB cost to the distribution center.

Chrysler does not manufacture the part(s), never did.

For them to obtain it, they had to buy it from MB and then mark it up so it would be profitable to them.

Since it's a "new" part number they slap on it, totally legal.

Ethical, too because if Chrysler DIDN'T carry the parts at all, ignorant Crossfire owners nationwide would b!tch that there is no support of the brand from the manufacturer.

Lose-lose for Chrysler

OE-Discount doesn't stock any of the parts, they all come from the manufacturer's PDCs. Looks at the pick labels when you receive the parts.

OE-Discount is based out of NC, but the parts I received last week have a Jacksonville PDC pick label.

OED has to pay the centers what they have in the part. Since the MB parts were only purchased once, the base price can be lower.

You're right of course, practically the only list that cross references the numbers is in Chrysler's hands and they ain't telling.
We are building one here, but few know or care.

Mercedes has 2 part# for the clock spring. Year 98-99 is 170 460 01 49 and from year 00-03 is 168 460 01 49 . You would have to figure out which one they used for the Crossfire. they both could be the same part but the price is different.

It's the latter.

Crossfire is based on post-facelift R170

Check the number stamped on the part, it's always there.
Who needs a parts list?

Some parts are usable that have different numbers but check first.
