Default Crossfire got rear ended

My crossfire got hit with enough force to push the passenger side panel closer to the passenger door, there is hardly a gap..the other side looks wider then it was before (maybe its just me??) I figure the rear frame got bent slightly.
The bumper cover for sure and the muffler got pushed back and bent, ripped the hangers off,and one shield to the right of the exhaust tips is broken (215.00!!)
Will find out in a few days if it is bent or not, i know they can straighten them but its always going to be on the record

Anyone heard of betterment...they say I have to pay 25% of the original exhaust...I thought they might have a stainless exhaust last a lifetime..anyone know for sure??
Oh well lets hope they repair it well enough so i am not driving sideways! LOL
Anyone got a muffler tail pipe assembly laying around?? ;-)

That just stinks, especially with a beautiful graphite. I would suspect the frame is okay and just the panels were moved -- should be easy enough to fix. Cannot help you with the exhaust question. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

If you got rear-ended wouldn't the other guy have to pay to get your Crossfire back to normal? Are you going to try to fix it yourself?

That sucks, sorry to hear.

Some people get too freakn close. They have no idea how to drive.

I get this a lot in the Miata since people naturally want to overpower it ALL THE TIME. I've had better experiences with the Crossfire since most people steer clear thinking it's really expensive like a Porsche. But now that I hear this happened to you I will be even more vigilent than before.

I have had to switch lanes at the last second before. I was stopped behind someone and I saw a guy in my rear view coming fast then hearing him try to slam on the brakes. Luckily for everyone I moved over and he had that extra car's length to stop. And it's usually jackasses in their A to B car with the battle damage already on it and a mentality that dings and dents are expected in the first 3 years of new car ownership.

People suck sometime, again sorry to hear. I've got a graphite Crossie too and I would be at a loss if anything happened.

Betterment... yep.. guy I worked with and his little honda suv. Seems there was an exhaust system in the for sale section recently. And I'd have to agree with you on the "stainless steel" theory... don't see it corroding away and paying 25 percent for a new shiney one!

Mine was rear ended a few years ago. Got a brand new bumper and had the tail pipe straightened out. I think the bill was 1k and her insurance paid all of it and rental. No deductible needed. Luckily the repair shop is top notch. The car looks better than new. Absolutely amazing. Just waxed it yesterday and the paint matches perfectly... And the car drives like a champ. Just trying to cheer you up and give hope all will be ok.... Cause it will.

You are lucky if they don't "total" it.

Pretty car.

But then again, I have a reason to be attached to Graphite.... (the camera and lighting make mine look dark blue... but it's not!)

Really sorry to see your baby getting hit like that. As long as you are ok, the car will be fixed. Good luck with everything.

thanks Guys..I hope that it is just the panel that has moved and not the frame, but the honda got under the rear bumper cover,I guess he was braking hard and gave me a hard bump.
Still waiting on the estimate from the shop, I'l let you Guys know what happens.

Well I talked to the collision people and they are still working on the estimate, so far they do know that the frame has swayed to the right and will need to be straightened, also they are saying the parts are not available till some time in january! if ever.
The betterment thing will not apply as the exhaust is stainless and a lifetime part...still I may just opt for the magna flow??
I hate they have to put it on a frame machine...who will want to buy a car with a straightened frame...not me :-( going to talk to him about depreaciation!
I did finally get a rental, I am hopeing that speeds them up a little!

Hey Maz -
The same thing happened to me last June. I was hit almost squarely in the back and the left quarter chipped the door edge, but it did move back in place. It still required some bench time, though. The deck lid fit was off even though it wasn't hit. They replaced inner and outer rear panels, exhaust, and the bumper cover. All parts came in OK except the exhaust - it took a few months but I just had it installed yesterday. The old one is still good - I don't really think that it was hurt at at all, and I have asked to keep it - I'll pick it up with another car week after next. It can be yours if you want it. Just send me a pm and we can work something out.

I have my stock exhaust in the shed. Been running the Borla for years now. Probably a PITA to ship out though... where are you?
