Crank shaft Sensor affect alternator
I recently started having problems with the electricity output within my dashboard and other components, one day while I was driving on the highway the car decided to just die in the middle road (no answers).
The car was towed to a nearby mechanic who stated that the crankshaft sensor required to be replaced (which the car was fixed and was back on the road), within the 2nd week the battery signal started flashing so I decided to buy a new battery. Within 2 weeks of the new batter the car died just like the 1st time while driving on the highway. I took it back to the same dealer informing them the car experienced the same problems, after a few diagnoses and ($180.00) they told that I needed a new alternator (which I am being charged for $1600.00 parts + labor).
I am asking for some guidance within this forum. Question: Could the crankshaft sensor affect the alternator? Or this one of those components that when changed the alternator must be changed as well?
I am a true crossfire fan and this is the only place where I feel I will get some straight answers... I will truly appreciate your feed back!

I would suggest that you review the RCM fix (Relay Control Module) . Simple solder repair to a factory problem.

Thank you I will look into this. Any other suggestions? Cause am being faced to just purchase a new alternator, but I feel the alternator went bad due the crankshaft sensor.

Could be alternator but I would get them to hold off and perform the RCM fix first and see if this corrects the problem. Hopefully save some $$.
I would never pay that kind of $$ for an Alt replacement.
Good luck.

$1200.00 for an alternator is ridiculous. Check all the part's places 1st. Autozone, Directparts, etc... Perform the RCM fix, trace all your battery cables to their source, to make sure of tight non corroded connections...
