Average Gas Mileage
Plugs looked good and air filters are new. What now??? I ran some seafoam in gas to see if it helps. 150 miles on tank so far and 1/4 tank left to go. Hopefully the last quarter doesnt go faster than the first but usually is the case, lol. I filled up when fule light came on. 14.6 gallons I believe. Will check again at the light.

I've noticed that my drive to work is netting me some extra distance. I think I pay $15-20 more per full tank than I did for my SRT-4. The SRT-4 did 28-32 mpg and my XF is doin' about 33-35 (SRT-4 47L tank / XF 60L tank). However, my drive to work is all paved back roads where the max speed is 60 kph and heavily policed.
But then again, I bought the car for the 2 seat aspect and the head turning action. Gas mileage be damned. Get me on the expressway and it's about 25 mpg (We Canadians don't get the nice speeds you Americans get)

WTF??? That's what I am talking about! I would LOVE this car if I could get this. Oh well, I will get her figured out...I hope
I know that you are not suposed to check the gaps on irridiums with a guage due to the possibility of damage to the tips but....I did check one and it was gapped waaaaay out to 50+???? This should be more about 40 right? I am not smelling any fuel, but that doesnt mean the car is just dumping it in and not burning it with too large a gap correct? I may just say to hell with it and replace them anyway. Kind of sucks though, as I just spent over an hour the other night pulling and inspecting all plugs, lol. Oh well, looks like plugs and screen removal and elbow debaffle happpening after work today????
Think I am going to do some work to the wheels this weekend as well possibly. Maybe black them out with just a hint of red down the spokes? Hmmmm Just trying to "make it my own" without copying what I have seen from a few other on here.

New plugs in and everything deburred and debaffled, lol. Car feels like new! Big difference on power now. I ran a bottle of Techron through it so Ill see now how the fuel mileage does. Can't be any worse, lol. Last tank avg 14.85 mpg!!!!
I can not believe you were at 14.85! that is just nuts. This last road trip I was at 27.6 and thought that was bad since my average is 29-31mpg.
I've had 2 Crossfires now: an '04 and an '08. The '04 had a 6 speed, while the '08 has an automatic. Both attained about the same mileage: 23 in the city and 26 on the highway.
I cannot reach the 30 mpg mark. However, I do recognize that if I were to slow down and use less air conditioning, my mpg would undoubtedly improve.
While I'm not at all unhappy with the mileage, I
continue to wonder if this is representative of most of our cars.

Its: WHO CARES BECAUSE ITS A SPORTS CAR
I actually am really impressed with this.
But seriously though, its a SPORTS CAR.
I am in constant battle with my father who averages 33-35mpg on road trips in his Z06. Air on cruse set at 80mph. I just try all I can to get better than him when we drive down to San Diego. I only get 30-31 when on really long road trips, only stopping for bathroom breaks and gas.
Two tank fulls ago, I managed to squeeze 345 miles from a tank of gas.
However it was boring as hell, like driving my Granny around, never touched 70mph or any where close..... Worked out I was doing approx 36 mpg.... UK Gallons are bigger than USA gallons by the way.
Driving with the occasional spurt of 130mph I get about 260 miles on a tank.
Not bad considering how much pleasure I get from the noise she makes :-)

Incidentally, I have found that all the additional loads on the engine also make a couple of mpg's difference, ie Air con on, stereo on full bore, lights on, windows open, boot full of junk etc...
all this adds drag and costs fuel...........

Well, average is up to a whopping 15.2 mpg, but I have been playing a little more than before. I know you guys will call bs, but the xfire ran doorhandle to doorhandle from 40 to 100mph with a Cadillac CTS-V on Monday. True story! I wanted to see the Caddy run and figured he would tear away but he didnt. He even had aftermarket exhaust on it. Needless to say, I was more than elated. Of course, he started pulling better at 100+ and would have killed me on top.
Edit: yes, looks like a 09 CTS-V is supposed to run 2+ sec faster 1/4 mile than the xfire. How much of that could be off the line with all the torque and more horsepower and how much top end? Also, the xfire didnt lose anything on the run due to already in second gear so just a chirp in third vs he sounded like he lost some traction?? Oh well. lol

I dont blame you. I wouldnt have believed it either, but I DID see it and my wife was there too, so two people in the xfire also, lol I also, am not a person to "liven" up stories. I tell what happens. I have had many fast vehicles and this xfire is not one of them. Fun to drive??? sure, but far from fast. My 78 TA on street tires that ran 10.70..that was a fast car and my ZX14 running a stock length, toe-shifted 9.028 @ 155?? fast as well, lol. Maybe he was just playing with me??

Yes it does and over 530+hp on tap. Maybe he left the parking brake on? Had it in "valet" mode??hahahaha
