Average Gas Mileage
Jeep Cherokees are not known for being good on gas. But they can sure take a beating and out-live most cars on the road today.
Any idea what the RPMs should be at a given road speed, i. e. 3500@65 mph? That might give us a clue if there are significant differences between cars...
What's your mileage at those speeds?
The 07 stick is a daily driver & not babied...I'm the original owner of both....the stick is about 80% highway driving & I keep close watch on the mpg (some kind of sickness?) ....it has almost 80,000 miles on it now...
Over the course of a year I ave just a hair over 25 mpg. So most of my driving is 70-80 mph on I-70.
The 08 automatic only has <17,000 miles on it & is driven mainly by my wife to work once in a while. She ave about 23.5. Occasional tanks work out to 25. When we first bought it from a dealership 500 miles away.....(this was the only long-sustained trip either one has been on)....it ave over 26 mpg.

Actually, I drove the automatic today & yes....at 70 it's turning 2550 to 2600 RPM at 70 mph. Filled it up = 25.1 mpg today. I put "Y" rated DWS tires on a few months back at about 35 psi.
Just filled up today. 100% city driving (spiritedly I should add). Got 311 miles on 14.9 Gallons, works out to not quite 21. Still had a gallon left but the gauge was showing empty.
I'm running 34 in front, 36 in the rear on the stock Contis...
With the plug change and TB elbow deburr and debaffle avg up to 18.4 from 14.6. Just did rear cat delete and true duals on Saturday. She breathes much better now. Maybe I can get her to pick up a few more? She definately has more go to her now.
thank God it's not just me!!! I have to admit that the most disappointing thing about the XF is the mpgs - I know we don't buy these for that reason BUT when my old Y2K Camaro SS was getting nearly the same mpgs then that's not good!! That being said I'm still as happy as a pig in muck so who cares lol
