Default Steering wheel badge

I purchased a replacement steering wheel badge and have a question. The winged emblem that is on there is raised and will not allow me to install the badge properly.....Can anyone tell me how the stock emblem is removed without breaking it ?

thanks johnv

John, if you have the standard crossfire decals sold here or anything else vinyl, you apply the decal directly to the raised surface. Get it centered as best you can and attempt to get it to lay down. you will have small creases around the edges, if you use a heat gun/blow dryer, these will heat/shrink the vinyl and with the right pressure from you, it should lay down nice and easy (like prom night LOL )

~ if you purchased the large round silver disc that goes in the center of the steering wheel (seen on ebay)... you most likely have to remove the plastic wing.
i would be suprised if you could get it off without breaking it.

The only chance you have to remove the emblem in one piece is if you have access to the back of the airbag piece. The winged emblem is glued and it has pegs that go through the airbag piece.

Once you have it off, you will need to fill the recess the wings fitted into, if your new piece needs to fit on a flat surface. Be warned the top surface above the wings is not aligned with the surface below the wings, and filling and sanding is very difficult because the material is flexible.

Good Luck!

Forgot those things were out there, not exactly my taste, but to each their own.

Both of mine have had your emblems, Andrew

are there any shiny or even satin silver decals that are about the same size as the wings in the steering wheel hub? I'd like to get at least two of those but didn't know if they were available
