Lighting!
Looking to replace all my lights with HID's.
Advice for good places to buy these?
What should I expect for light out warning indicators?
By all, I mean all, Including parking lights. Also, would like to replace the blinker lights from yellow to white lights if possible.
Does something like this look like what I would want?
Crossfire HID Kit
Also, I'm looking to replace my sidemarkers (front) with clear lenses. Any good places to get these? I remember reading a while back, there was some link to a euro website that had them for pretty cheap along with some other crossfire parts. Now I can't find them for under 100$
Almost forgot about fog lamps! I haven't had to replace a bulb for these yet, so I don't know how easy it is for a HID conversion on these. Info appreciated!
Thanks!

Running the 35w kit so factory wiring isn't an issue.. I think if you go 55w your pushing the oem's limit and need to use the relay kit at that point. But I'm plenty happy with my 35w. Took a little getting used to (the slight blue shade) but I like them. Might try the 5000k if and when these burn out. If I remember correctly these have a two year warranty with them also.
yeah I saw that. I think it is a 1 year warranty but I am not sure. I messaged him and asked if he had 6000Ks. Would the same ones work for the Low beams as the high beams? What about the fog lights?
This should do the job for you

This thread should answer any questions. And as a note the grommet they show on the bulb wires doesn't seem to come with them anymore so you have to get creative.
I believe 9006 is the fog light bulb type.. this thread should answer any more questions for the rest of the lights.

SO much information! Thanks! I'm having a mental overload with all this new info lol
Those other threads look very helpful.
Those higher quality bulbs- 150$ ones look very promising, but that would also mean I would have to drop 450$ on headlights. My main goal is just to have a clean install, WITHOUT a light out indicator. If it takes me paying the extra cash, I will. But MrMiata said he didnt have an issue so I dont know lol.
Also, Yes I am in the market for an SRT bumper, I have seen that front lip that a member here has created. For me it looks a bit on the cheap side with its bolt on fit-ment on the outside of the bumper etc.

Well gold plated contacts and silver lined bulb are nice.. but on the real side.. just search the forum for Xentec and see if you find any bad reviews..
And I do like my $5.00 front lip a whole lot better than the Frankenstien mod.. lol.
ok. so far I have ordered these : 12000K 9006 Car/Truck HID 's | eBay
at 6000k for the highs lows and fogs. I offered the guy 28$ instead of 32 and he took it so thats cool.
Then I ordered these : ~10x 194 168 2825 White LED Wedge Side Car Lights Bulbs | eBay
for the parking light, licence plate light, and front sidemarkers.
Then I ordered these: 7507 PY21W x2 CHROME WHITE Light Bulbs BMW Turn Signal | eBay
For the front blinkers
I am holding out on the cargo area, glove box, and courtesy lights till I can find out more about them. I will try out the parking light etc first and see how they work.
Now if I could just figure out how the resistors work and which ones to buy lol

Yeah, I got one 9006 kit and 2 H7 hits. I see in the linked forum the info about resistors, I just need to study it and figure out how they will be put "in-line". Also which one to get, the 3 prong 2 prong W prong etc.
Also if you followed the links, you'll see I'm getting a chromed white bulb for the front blinkers, and if I like them I'll get them for the rear too. And I'm also getting white LED for the front side markers.......
Is it illegal to have white blinker lights/ white bulbed front side markers?
I am really interested to see how you like the HIDs for your high beams. That topic of conversation has been discussed ad nauseum in numerous car forums, and the general consensus is that using HIDs for your high beams is frowned upon generally. HIDs work differently than halogen bulbs, in that with HIDs, switching them on and off quickly cuts down on the life of the bulb exponentially more than with halogen bulbs and, further, HID bulbs take longer to brighten/warm up. Since with your low beams they are either on or off, HIDs are practical. However, with high beams, you are constantly flicking them on and off when using them more often than not, and that act of switching them on and off will cut down on the life of the bulbs, and further, you aren't getting the full brightness of the bulbs unless you are driving down an empty road with your high beams on for an extended period of time. That said, with HID kits now costing only $35 on eBay, you might ask, "Who really cares? I'll just buy another set."
Just my 2 cents on the subject.

mrobinso, you do make a good point. It probably is impractical, but my main goal was to have all my lights close to the same color, and to abolish the yellowish beams. You're right, at 28$ for an entire kit, not just the bulbs, I could care less if I have to buy one or two a year
Plus, I do live on a semi country road which is good for high beams and I don't drive at night that much.
LED's for the high beams would probably be a good solution, but it just seems like too much... LED's HID's Halogens all mingling together.... Simpler the better lol.
But I will for sure let you know what I think once I get them

I just bought 2 sets of 55watt HID light bulb sets to do both main and dip lenses. These are almost TWICE the output of the wizzy BMW HID's..... awsome light..
However, the projector lenses are grubby & need a strip and gentle wipe over to clean....
Other than the removal of the two 8mm bex bolts above each lamp unit, what else holds these dang things in the vehicle, as they are reluctant ot lift out...
Are there hidden bolts some place under the lamp unit inside the wheel arch or some where else ?
I also descovered one of the 4 rubber rear bulb access caps is missing.... any one got a spare ?
Advice welcomed for removal of the lamp units plz ?
Regards to all in advance

Yes, there are 2 additional bolts under each side, to get to the outside one, you remove the little plastic door in the fender liner and use a long extension.
This makes the HID installation MUCH easier,
HOWEVER !!!
Removing the headlight units will NOT allow you access to the projector lenses - they ALL look grubby, but that is just the nature of the beast.

Thanks ALAX
Was hoping to strip the units, as the 55 watt HIDS are poking out the equivalent of 400 watts per lamp x 4 with the upgrade units.... dont want to dazzle the poor people oncoming with a rotten light pattern !!!
Won't the units dissemble ?
