Lets talk tires
I'm specifically talking to John (boiler), John (JHM2K), Steve (32Kranky) Jim (BigKid), Tom (Tom2112), Jason (JasonHBC I think?) and Howard (I don't remember his username), but I'm interested in others opinions and stories as well.
Okay I'm a Michelin fan boy. I've got the Pilot Sport all seasons on the car and had them put on a week before the last dragon. Of course I ruined my rear tires after that weekend and now when it rains I'm hoping from one wave to the next. Some of you who know me personally will remember that I absolutely love driving in the rain. There's something about trying to find the dry line when it's raining and it's one of the few things in this world that gets my full attention.
Anyway down to my question for those of you run the dragon with me, or autocross/track your car how does your car handle in the rain? I don't remember having this problem in the SRT when I owned it.
I ask because it's pouring tonight and on my way home I'm having to constantly catch the car from trying to take a walk on me. When the car dries off tomorrow morning I'll check my tread level, but it was almost at the wear bars when I got back from NC.

if you know your ruined the tires then didnt you answer your own question? any tire wore down will skate in the rain. the consensus on the m/b forums is the new pilot super sports. i have great luck with my hankooks but im not beating on them either. you would prolly love your all seasons if they had more tread
I was doing 85mph tonight in the same rain storm, on my BFG tires. They never flinched, best rain tire I've ever owned.
Problem is, when it's dry, OMG THE NOISE.
I still miss my Continental DWS. Yes, there was some compromise on absolute dry grip, but in EVERY other area the tire was the best one I've ever owned.

The rear of my car has never been steady in the rain since the WaveTrac install. I didn't have the rear toe elignment adjusted,so the tires tracked wrong. Have tread on the rears outside and bald on the inside. Mounting 295/30/19 Potenza S-04 Pole Position on next week with a 4 wheel elignment. Squirrel Crusher
I may get a second set of wheels and put a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires on for the next dragon. If it rains I may be riding though
You had the DW... promise.
I don't think you will get your way with most all seasons. Summer compound will stick like glue when heated up, but not do well in the rain. Rain tires, all seasons, do well in the rain, but won't stick when heated. If you get a compound that will stick, then the wear is greater. I have the all seasons that came on the coupe still on there, and they are fine unless you want traction out of the hole, and I have summer compounds from Goodyear on the roadster. The roadster sticks great on dry roads but not on wet roads. They do OK, in rain, but I wouldn't push them very hard. Tire selections is really up to the user, as we all have different driving styles. I wouldn't go back to Goodyear, and I won't own all seasons either....so, I am looking as well down the road....
Noticed this morning that it really depends on the asphalt. The transition to Mt Juliet Asphalt on i40 takes me from comfortably running 90 - 100 with plenty of wet grip to running at 70 and still catching the car trying to take a walk on me. This asphalt is only a couple of years old from that stretch all the way to Stewarts Ferry. While the asphalt between Lebanon (my home) to Mt Juliet is rather old, but still in good condition. I still need rear tires, and all this proves is that when they repaved they f'd the drainage up on the interstate :/
I've had Michelin PS2's, Pilot Sport Cups, Yokohama Advan AD08, Kumho Ecsta XS and Hankook Ventus RS-3. The best in heavy rain, PS2's. Next the AD08's. The rest do well on a damp track but hydroplane easily with puddles or even a good sheet of water on the road. The Kumho's and Hankook's have lots of road noise. The best grip is difficult to say. The AD08's had fantastic grip in the dry when new but none when half worn. The XS and RS-3's are fantastic in the dry when new and keep good grip most of their lives. None last long the way I drive. (13,xxx miles and 7 sets of tires) I stopped using the Pilot Sport Cups for 2 reasons. Price and unpredictability. When they let go it's all over, only pro's can recover. The Kumho's and Kooks let go gently and recover easily. I wouldn't recommend any as heavy rain worthy. Probably didn't answer your question but it's what I know about certain tires, so far.

I am very happy with my Dunlop Sport Maxx TTs. I had a lot of suspension work done to restore the car to stock after the previous owner lowered it on staggered 20/19s with the inevitable uneven tire wear. Still lowered but now properly aligned, getting great wear in the Sacramento heat. When these go south I'm considering BFG Sport Comp-2s or Toyo Proxes T1s, both specifically for their wet handling claims. Noise -- who cares? It's a roadster.

Tires were needed when I first bought my car. For the money I went with a full set of Falcons. Don't have any complaints on them, looks like I'm going to get about 20-25 thousand miles on them. I have no doubt my driving style is a lot more conservative than most of you guys.
Since my purchase the General G-Max AS-03 has surfaced, and the reviews seem great, and will be my next purchase when the time comes. So you aggresive drivers grab a set and let me know! LOL.

Grip well, nice tread design. Had them going 130 MPH, smooth.
Not a lot of call for driving in the rain, and likely couldn't even if I wanted to. Still, I put some General G-Max all seasons on about two months ago, and I cannot complement these tires enough. They won't slide out where the Conti's did. They're much much quieter. They also cost only 60% of the OEM tire. Only complaint is that the all-season tread has a muscle-car, not a sports car, appearance.
I read your post a few times but I can not understand.
Question Crossfire tire would go better?
If you want an excellent rain tire I would go to the Michelin PS3 is undoubtedly much higher than the PS2, web sites except dry, earning the PS2.
They say the Bridgestone R070 is very good too, although I have not tried.
Anyway, considering that the rear Crossfire nervous especially in the wet ,my choice by Michelin PS3, have an acceptable duration and rain are impressive.
