Air Con problem
Hi Guys and Girls..Could anyone help...The sun is shining in the UK..doesn't happen very often...laugh...I went to use my Aircon for the first time yesterday...and it was warm..as i have never used it before...it was time for a re-gas...The chap came out to day and said it measured at about 75%...he chjecked the compressor and all was ok...and no leaks..thank goodness...he charged the system and we ran the engine..all the pipes were cold in the engine compartment....but inside the car no cold air
(((((..we adjusted all the settings but the air was warm...he said it could be the climate control...but because there was no cold air coming from either side ..he didnt think it was that....he also said something about a valve that takes heat into the car...but was not sure...but we do know that the compressor works...has anyone got any ideas....Thank you everyone...Great Forum...what would us X-Fire owner do without it.....

Sorry I cant help but mine doesnt blow freezing cold too, even though it was regassed by the previouse owner last year. The last 2 cars I have owned have blown freezing cold air but the xfire is just cool, in fact there is no difference in temprature between just having fan set on cold and switching air con on, but I would sooner have the windows open anyway.
Dont know if its a common thing with this car.

Thanks Russ.....I was expecting it do be freezing ...just cost me £60...and my GF is asking can we put the A/C on..I dont know what to say.....I think she thinks I am being mean with the petrol...Laugh
I had to have mine re-charged 2 years ago. No pressure, but the dealer (!) couldn't find a leak. Dye added then, and it still works great.
The air passes through the heater core and the evaporator (cooling core) the air does not bypass one or the other by means of a baffle.
If the heater coolant is not stopped or restricted sufficiently then the air will be warm. The air first passes the evaporator and is cooled it then goes through the heater core and if the heater core is warm it will slightly warm the air up again. If the coolant has not been restricted at all then the air will be warmed up quite a bit. Remember the heater core can warm up cold winter air that is colder than the air conditioner can achieve.
Using the two wheels on the controls dials down the amount of coolant passing through the heater core, the temperature of the evaporator remains the same. this means the air hits a cold evaporator and then a heater core that could be cold because no engine coolant is passing through it or hot because all possible engine coolant is passing through it and all temperatures in between. The resulting blend of air goes from warm to cold.
The air passes through the evaporator first so it can dehumidify moist air before it hits your windshield in the cooler months when demist is selected on the dial. Selecting demist will start the air conditioner if it is not too cold out. If it is too cold out then the air is not laden with moisture anyway.
The Repair Manual has good diagrams of the system which is common to most cars.
Thanks Onehundred..If I set the controls to cold it doesnt warm up it stays as cold as outside..but today was hot so even if I set the controls to cold because it was hot that just comes through...if I turn on the AC ..it does not make any difference...the system is fully gassed and the pipe in the enginine compartment where the gas is filled was cold...but it just doesnt seem to go into the car...Thank everyone for your help.

I changed the pollen filter under the glove box under dash....
Lots more air flow and my air con will now bring the car down to 6 degrees in 5 mins from starting on a warm day..... it was so lame before !!

You may want to remove the battery and check the vaccum line (had gray line) that runs form inside the car to the bak of the throttle body. That line controls the door flap to close off the outside air. It has been common to see the acid from the vented battery eat through the line as it runs under the battery tray. Yuo should also check to see if it is still connected to the throttle body. If it is eaten away simply cut a new section of vaccum line for the damaged section and you should be cold once again.
yesterday we had a few hot days here in the South UK,
I was sat in the car fiddling with console for 15 mins, air con at max and recirculating to see what it could get down to...... I was bloody freezing, and the air sent to the screen..... there was condensation forming on the OUTSIDE of the screen above the vents, it was blowing so cold...... never had a car with such good air con... :-)

6°C.? that is 43°F. You could hang meat in there to age.

My first post in here, great to see there's a Forum!
I had the oil changed a couple months ago, and they checked the A/C and said it was low. They wanted to flush it out for $150 (JiffyLube, lol), so I said no. It's a 2004 I've had since brand-new, and never once did anything with the A/C but I live in FL and it is critical. Always was great, seemed to take a little longer to cool, but once it got going, it was good.
But I thought I should fill it up, and got some R134 for AutoZone, and they guy there even helped. But now it doesn't cool hardly at all, and there is some noise much louder than before (compressor, I assume). I called the AutoZone back, he thinks there's some tube that may be clogged. I think that adding the freon stirred up some gook inside. Anyways, he suggested having the system emptied and re-charged. LOL, that's where I started.
Moral of the story is do not try to save money and DIY when it comes to A/C. I should have left it alone and now I do have to take it to an A/C shop.

Hi guys need help air con on passengers side blowing hot but only now and then drivers side works fine passengers side might work fine for a week or two then blow hot for a few days then back to normal I'm baffled
I am not sure if its rapid pulses or the valve is open longer, it is one or the other, you get what I am saying?
The valve is normally open, the pulses determine how hot the air gets. GraphiteGhost explains it in a post somewhere here.
Good question. I've been here awhile and have yet to find a definitive answer. I'm thinking that the manual was written by someone that had never worked on or had anything to do with the design of the A/C on the Crossfire.
What is your exact problem?
