Default Back-up lights

Hi..I have a 2004 crossfire..6 spd manual..around 40k miles..Car runs great..When I took it for inspection earlier this year they said they could not get back-up lights to work..but passed it anyway...When I got home they seemed to work ok..Then and now either intermittant or not at all...Is there a switch that needs adjusting or something else that I need to replace? Please advise....Wayne..

First thing I would check is the Back-up Switch located to the right of the output shaft, behind the flexdisc

That is the switch for the manual trany. I could be wrong but I think the back-up switch is integral part of the shifter assy. on the automatic

Haven't a clue myself since I've never delved into the area, but I'd bet this ones cheaper than the stealer would offer.

The manual says the auto reverse switch is an "integral" part of the shifter mechanism and cannot be repaired.

I've seen **** said like that before on part repairs and if you really care it can be done - sometimes.

I'd be looking for bad contacts somewhere before I decided it was the switch though.

I know as I can read, I was agreeing with Turbo Mario through your post and adding a tip to the OP about seeking a cheaper solution as well, get it?

When I performed the Paddle shifter mod, I had the whole shifter assy disassembles on the bench so, it can be serviced. Yes... Whenever I see the imfamous "can not be serviced" in a shop manual, it just gives me more determination to fix it myself anyways. I have also come to realize that: unservicable= expensive dealer item only
