Strange noise while driving
Hi guys,
I didnt really find answers on this forum so i post a new thread.
I have a strange sound comming from under my car when driving.
It sounds like metal on metal, a loud peeping sound.
It has nothing to do with how fast or what road im driving.
The sound and frequence is always the same ( 10 mph or 100 mph)
It has nothing to do with AC/heather fan either.
When the cars parked an i rock/shake it i dont hear the noise.
Its not the suspention or exhaust.
Dealer cant find anything, went back 3 times.
IT DRIVES ME CRAZY!
Anybody any idea?

Maybe the little fan in the box with the RCM that cools the amp & TCM ?
Just a guess, but then it would still make the same noise when stopped .....
Nevermind.
Have you got an old cellphone that records audio ?
Attach it to a strong magnet and place it in various places under the car and see if it will identify where the noise is the loudest.

A sound clip isnt easy bc u only hear it when u drive.
my gf drove it the other day and i could clearly hear the noise comming from the back end
of the car.
Alaxfire's idea with the recorder & magnet isnt so bad but still...than what?

It is hopefull that one of us will recognize the sound(noise) and be able to point you in the right direction. Oh, a quick simple check, jack and spin one wheel at a time and see if you can replicate. I had my L R rotor splash shield rub against the rotor a few months back

Hey JD
You mention you definitely hear it from the rear of the vehicle (when the GF was driving it). So were you out of the car or in it with her?
Also, read this thread about a demon rattle:
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...verything.html
Even though he calls it a rattle, yours might be pronouncing itself as a chirp or peeping sound. You will see that he was pretty sure it wasn't in the exhaust system but it turns out it was. Might be something there.

Drove around in my garage yday for half hr.
and found out that WHEN I DRIVE IN REVERSE THE SOUND IS GONE!!
this gets stranger by the min.
The thread about "demon rattle" got me thinking that maybe it is the exhaust.
Im going back to dealer next week
