Those Freddie Kruger looking things on the Front Fenders
Those Freddie Kruger looking things on the Front Fenders
Not sure what you call them... but I think they're on the ugly side, and the ones on the drivers side rattle like crazy..
anyone taken them off, or changed how they look, or put something else there?
Point me to a thread...
inquiring minds want to know..

BTW, I like them!

Even use cotton swabs on them.

I would imagine that taking them off would look a bit funny... I'll try tightening them up.. (they rattle) and I might try to light them up (found that thread in the search)
so how hard is it to get behind them to tighten them up??

Do the strakes actually function? Or are they there for the looks ? I wanted to plastidip mine after I do my wheels but if they actually vent anything I might not do it
Personally though I like the look of slk's single strake but i doubt those would fit these cars

They are for looks only....I can't imagine the affect the airflow. They are not vents.

I know most super cars now have vents in the same area and they help cool the brakes , didn't think they did anything on the xf but doesn't hurt to ask
Re: Those Freddie Kruger looking things on the Front Fenders
Not impossible, but there are several spider style clips and some 2 sided tape holding them on. If they are lose, some double sided tape should work.

The strakes on my XF rattled and I was concerned they may drop off, so i put a bead of black gutter sealant under each one..... my XF is Black so it is hidden easily.... no more rattles now.

Hopefully you never have to paint or touch up that area, getting off would be a killer...
