wow, how did I miss this post.
I thought us "kruat burners" would stick together. oh well...
I have yet to take a spin in a Audi TT. The only Audi I have been in was my buddies A4 and it was crazy wicked around corners. If I needed a get away car the Audi brand would be at the top of the list. One of these day I will have to take a ride in one and see what the deal is.
At work I park next to a - heck you name it and it is probably in the parking lot at work. If you don't see it there then wait for the anual car show and all the other cool stuff will show up. The difference there is that we are just adults with a bunch of cool toys but most importantly we have respect for one another and our choices in cars, which there seems to be a lack of here.
Why don't you TT fans help us out. Our aftermarket is moving at turtle express speed. Did yours move pretty slow on upgrades out the door and take a couple of years to get going or was it pretty quick to grow? If you have used tactics previously as a group that worked to get the aftermarket moving, than any advice would be great.
thanks!

Last thing I'll say I hope. I looked at that guys TT time slips stock. He Trapped at 90 on one run and 92 in another. Another guy on the forum ran his stock autostick XF and pulled a tad over 92. Trap speed is what shows the faster car. Right there that shows you that the 6-speed manual TT and autostick are on the same level from a roll. And even with his mods he trapped at only a tad over 98. Not that impressive his time was but not his trap. So i dont see why not the crossfire can't pull on TT especially w/ being chipped with kandn's. Because as i believe some ran that combo and trapped at a tad over 100mph. Its our 60's that kill the crossfire. Hence why i talked about puttin light smaller wheels on. a 2.4 60' Autostick XF vs a 1.9 60' "TT". From a dig the TT has us but from a roll its a different story. And as far as the turns go i dont care, Crossfire does pull more G's but i remeber when i test drove the 225 TT it handled crazy like but so does the XF. I never plan on autocrossing my XF. Any way just some tid bits of info.

1. Red light = loser pays.
2. No slicks but DR's are ok.
3. Full equipment - means u can't remove the seats,doors,etc....
4. Best out of three wins $500
Lets do this, come correct or don't come at all.

you obviously haven't participated or seen many events. go to any euro AutoX and you'll see a bunch of TTs along with Boxsters, M3s, etc...
You are correct that my stock times were slow when I first got it, in June. That fall I ran again and was able to get the 14.1@94mph. I had removed my airbox, and ran nothing for the track that day. I will admit that 98mph is a bit off, but I also mentioned that the car heat soaks by the end of 3rd gear.
BTW: The 225 still does not have an aftermarket for it. We dont have a decent downpipe option, unless we want a $1150 Miltek downpipe. Our Catback bolt on kits are over $600 also. I dont buy bolt ons though, so I dont have to spend that kind of cash. What you guys need to do is to start tweaking your cars by yourselves, and that is what makes the aftermarket companies start to offer you stuff. Someone figure out how to make a Charger work on your car, and it will be on the market within a year or 2.
Good luck with your cars guys, and dont mind any of the haters from other car companies. Everyone has an opinion, and you bought your car because you like the way it looks. If anyone is in the Dayton, oh area, let me know, we have a big Car show this weekend.

The xfire and the tt are not sports cars they are touring cars. They are faster and handle better than the average car, but they are in no way fast cars. So who cares if one is faster than the other, thats not what they where designed for. These cars were designed to be stylish. If you want to be the fastest car on the road dont get a xfire or a tt or a 350z for that matter... 8)
Power 5,
Thanks for the tips. The Merdedes SLK market never got to have a very big performance aftermarket for it. Yes there are nice performance upgrades for our cars right now but they are terribly expensive. A 330hp upgrade will cost about 11k and a 407hp upgrade will cost about 20k. The market seems to be targeted to those with more play money than I have. Somthing to boost 50 HP while maintaing a good torque curve in this car would make most people happy.
I think most of us are looking for a lower cost alternative like a Turbo setup or a low boost SC (the current one requires new pistions and crank) rather than buying the fugly SRT-6 version of our cars (the wale fin that I am sure is laughed at in all forums). The compression ratio on our car is currently 10.0:1 and I am not sure how much more the setup can take while being reliable. I am surround with people at work that can modify a ford, chevy or mopar engine with their eyes closed but they all find out that my car has a MB engine and run away.
Right now the cheapest alternative seems to be to pull your own engine and have it bored out to a 3.8 liter setup. You would still have to tow it out of town to have the fuel mappings fixed, but that is another story.
Here is hoping for more upgrades for both our cars.
