Marc.... All I'm saying is that if they are such Hot stuff, why haven't I seen any at any SCCA events? We have the SCCA South East Regionals here this weekend and not a single TT is registered and there are 182 cars registered. (unfortunately I will be up in Mass. for my Bride's High School reunion this weekend.... 1st Autocross I've missed since last January). The tests that Road & Track did put the Crossfire ahead of the TT on the Drag strip and the Slalom. The 350Z is also in BS and they only do well if they are on "R" compound tires. I personally have not come across a TT that wanted to try me. I would be happy to check it out for myself... If there are any TT owners in the Tidewater area of Virginia that would like to see which car is best.... Bring it out. I'm not Dan and will run you just for the fun of it.

I'm goin' to the Texas Labor Day Party with the SCCA this September 3,4,5 and 6 at Ennis, Texas. For Texas Crossfires, this will be a good place to jam and meet. We can also drag race the 1/4 mile.

I'd like to see a TT in this affair

Ennis is close to Dallas, right? I don't think I'll be free the whole weekend but I may get the chance to get up there for a race or two. Should be fun

EDITED: I live in Houston btw

Do a quick search on http://www.audiworld.com/search/ for SCCA in the TT forum and you'll find that plenty of people have taken part and done well at these events. I don't really have the time to get into AutoX but I track my car a few times a year.

I know your a better driver than me and maybe you would not hesitate to do it, after all it really is a drivers game. Based on that, you wont see me follow a TT quattro on quick turns. I am suprised you don't have any TT's racing. I know that there is one at my local autocross club. From what I remember it is in the B Stock class while we are in the D Stock class...

Well i tell you what Ive raced A4 quattro on this strecht of highway in Miami called the 874 it was a lot of straits and turns I thougt the A4 would
hold up better but the guy was trying and iI took him on a fairly sharp turn. Not to mention that I was on the outside. So can we take stock A4 TT hell ya and if you whants some come get it I'm on the 874 5 times a week.

To the tune of "Oh, Lord Won't You Buy Me a Mercedes Benz..."

Oh Lord, please don't give me an Audi TT
My friends all drive Porsches, they'll make fun of me
A glorified VDub is all it would be
So Lord, please don't give me an Audi TT

Oh Lord, please don't give me a 350Z
It'll outrun the others, and that's plain to see
But it's a rice burner, and just not for me
So Lord, please don't give me a 350Z

And Lord, not a Crossfire, I couldn't stand that
When I leave at the red light, it feels kinda flat
I can barely get in one, and my wife's way too fat
So Lord, not a Crossfire, I couldn't stand that

So Lord, I guess a Yugo would be right for me
No internet forums or ads on TV
No fussin or fightin 'bout 0-60,
So Lord, I guess a Yugo would be right for me....

With apologies to Janis Joplin...and many others, I'm sure....

Have fun!
Fritz

How about using the "W" winter drive when it's raining ? Plus the ESP should take care of the curves.

My car has a manual tranny so there is no winter setting. I am under the impression that the winter setting just starts you off in second gear which is only good on ice.

I am not talking about keeping up with my buddy on normal curves. I am talking about how his wheels can go all the way left and the AWD kicks in and allow him to stick through the hard turn. I have been in it and you can feel the car move power to the wheels that have more grip. In a RWD your rear end will wrap around if you are not careful. The traction control just hampers the cars limits. I seriouly doubt that anyone that does autocrossing with our cars leave it on.

btw: the first couple of time I got the car sideways I had the hardest time figuring out where the tires where pointing to pull out so I had to let off the gas. It's not an issue anymore but If you decide to try this then do it in a wide open space until you figure it out.

I didn't read the whole thread, but I read the beggining. Oh my god, your audi TT does 0-60 in a BLISTERING 5.6 seconds when modified. Therefore you're the fastest on the road, faster then everyones crossfire. Open challenge. Alright, well come race my Mustang GT. It'll embarass you. But as fast as it is, I want to get a crossfire. Why? Because theres ALWAYS someone faster.. but the crossfire is somewhat exotic, and the looks of the car are amazing in my opinion.

Now, I know the Audi TT is so amazing since the TOP model does 0-60 in an amazing 6.4 seconds and HAS A CHASIS BASED ON THE VW BEATLE! But like I said, the fact is theres always someone faster. My Mustang GT will smoke almost any of your TT's. But I'm opting to get a SLOWER car, the crossfire, in the future... because its rare, exotic, and drives like a sports car.

just when the board was starting to calm down, u go and open your mouth. Ok heres the deal no one really care that your crap stang is "really fast" as a matter of fact the only person I see talking about how much faster their car is, is YOU. Now go get rid of that rust on wheels, cut your hair while your at it.

I havent gone this summer because without an FMIC, I heatsock after a few runs. If you want to schedule a run sometime after Sept, I will be down.
