I don't know for sure that it made the difference.. but another member was having issues getting his to reset. I had suggested disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and trying again. He reported back FSS reset worked first time after that. Mileage may vary should you try this.. LOL.

I was reading your stats John...and for the life of me...picturing you standing for a half mile at 135mph made me chuckle...lol... And, I even knew what you meant...rough day I guess...
LOL....I needed that...now back to the RESET....I never get it the first time while trying to reset it...I have taken up to 6 tries before....never have I had it work the first time....

1) Move the ignition switch to the “RUN” position
2) Within 4 seconds of moving the ignition switch into the
“RUN” position, press the reset button for the trip odometer
twice within one second.
The display for the FSS service request is activated for 10 seconds
3) During the 10 seconds the FSS service request is displayed,
move the ignition switch to the “OFF” position.
The FSS service request will continue to be displayed
4) Press the reset button for the trip odometer and hold
5) Move the ignition switch to the “RUN” position
6) Continue to press and hold the reset button for the trip
odometer (about 10 seconds) until the audible signal sounds and the new start distance appears in the display
The tool symbol should disappear at this time
So here is what I prepose to do , when the moon is in the seventh house and car aligned with mars l will cycle the doors open/closed all the while resetting 6 times under 10 sec and NOT wait for the elusive beep. That should cover it.
Seriously though I will try everything
Cheers

Before you try the procedure, do this! Push in the button and rotate back and forth about 20 times while holding in. This will take all the oxidation off the switch. Your trip odometer and fss will reset instantly after doing this.
Push it in and rotate it back and forth about 20 times while holding it in???? Nine months later a doctor told me it was a boy!! Be very careful doing this reset!!!!
