Battery light came on out of nowhere today
So went to my sisters house earlier today, she lives about an hour away. However, i was running late so i was extra speeding, instead of cruising. When i arrived there it was all good no problems. It was the drive home that was the other story. Right after i left her house, ran into some pretty heavy traffic, big accident. 30 minutes of 1mph of stop and go traffic. Out of nowhere my battery light just pops on and my lights dimmed; thinking it was my car overheating, i turned down my music (it was on blast bubstep). After clearing the traffic i gunned my car thinking it will go away, which it did, but 5 mins later came back on and stayed on until i got home. The car drove fine and no hesitant, the battery is only like 2 years old. just dont know what happened. If anyone had this kind of experience what did you do to fix it? Thanks again.

The first thing I would do is measure the voltage across the battery terminals when the battery light is on to determine if it's the battery or something else.
With engine running, should be steady 13.5 volts or more.
With everything off should be 12.1 volts or more.

First I would load test the battery, disconnected from the car. Age makes no difference for a battery to be defective. If battery tests out good, then have the alternator checked. Preliminary check for that would be 13.5 to 14.0 volts while engine running. To be sure alternator is good you must load test it as well. Also be sure all your connections are tight and clean.
PS Battery voltage should settle at 12.5 - 12.6 volts after sitting for a few minutes or overnight.
Keep us informed. James

With the light on I would not go anywhere as these cars use a lot of power and if the alternator has quit already or quits totally working later you will not go too far as the battery will run down.
