Parked on STEEP GRADE...
Wilma is an 08 with <18,000 miles.....the other day I parked on a steep grade (a parking lot) & when I fired her up the gas gauge read empty (tank is full). I can only assume the float / fuel sending unit got screwed up from the steep grade......
Anyone else ever experience this situation?

PS; I'm at work with about 2 hours till I retire!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure the auto makers take hills and slopes into account when designing.
Maybe they make special cars for Kansas though. LOL
Well, I'm pretty sure it was the steepest angle this particular car has ever been parked on....guessing 30 to 40.....with nose to sky. What's the odds the float (I assume) or the fuel sending unit would just happen to malfunction on the one occasion the car is parked at a steep angle???
My wife thought someone had siphoned the gas, so I stopped to fill it up & it took less than one gallon. I'll give it some time & DRIVE VIGOUSLY to try & shake it loose.
Something like that happened on my '97 Jetta, but I wasn't on a hill. One day a full tank was reading around half. Later in the day it came up to full.
No idea what happened. Something got stuck.

People siphon gas in public ? What ? That's hard to believe

I always thought Kansas was flat.
What can I say, I saw the Wizard of Oz, and I drove across it with a couple other Crossfires in 2011. Yep, it's flat.

I have this all the time on my chevy Express van. It is the slope. It seem to happen when I'm on very hilly work sites. Sometimes it takes 1/4 of a tank to start reading correctly. I get it on the hills never on the flats.
