Angry My poor crossfire... =(

So as I wait in the hospital I figured I would share the bad news with the community that loves these cars as much as I do. Taxi ran a red light this morning around 6:30 am I obviously couldn't stop in time. Both of us walked away and he was sited for reckless driving and clearly at fault. Still really hasn't sunk in about the car yet but I will leave some pictures for ya'll. I will post a link in case the pics don't work

Way too sad. Hate to see such a sweet car torn up for no good reason. Looks like a lot of damage. Maybe you could buy MikeR's car from his family? Don't know if it is stricly a racer or could be a daily driver or not. I think it is an SRT6 and some kind of fast, seems like I saw a drag race time ticket of 11.56 sec in a 1/4 mile. Hell of a car to get in the 11's.
Again sorry that car is messed up, hope you are ok. The next few days you will really get sore, probably.

If it is totaled, and you decide to get another, be very very careful when buying one from the East Coast - lots of water damaged one's on the market.

Wow, sorry your XF is gone. It appears to definitely be totaled though. I'd be calling an attorney to sue the cab company if I was in your shoes.

If your lucky and I hope you are the car will be repaired and you'll be back driving again, but there are two Good things that come out of this

1.your not injured
2. If by chance your car was to be considered totaled it will give the opportunity to give everyone some salvaged parts

But in the end the real important thing is that your safe , good luck :/

Yea, just be careful about ANY car right now... as has been said, there are a lot of flooded cars on the market.

Ok, one more XF totalled and yet, driver not injured.

I have had a few people tell me the same thing (even the officer). I guess I will ask my insurance agent what they think, I dont want to risk losing out because I went with a lawyer who would get 35% what may not be a worthwhile settlement?

I am 99% sure it will be totaled so I am not too sure how to go about getting parts from it which I will go over with the insurance company as I have every intention on jumping back in to another Crossie!

That is precisely the reason I will be buying another crossie. With me going 35 and him going 50 and I walked away with a lower lumbar strain and some bruises and that is all! Wow I am impressed!

Glad you came out of it so well. I wonder if the convertible would have protected you the same. Post pics of your new one.

George and all, them smart-a$$ crooks send those cars all over the country. Expect to see a flood damaged car as far away as they can get them because the further away they are the more people let their guard down. So, no matter where the car is, get a good professional inspection done!

Ouch.

I've had to do a lot more defensive driving of late myself. The deer are easy enough to deal with. People? Another issue

I got mine out of South Carolina just this past fall. Didn't even think of this. The carfax was good, so I went for it. It seems fine, (knock wood), got lucky I guess.

Okay guys I've narrowed the replacement down to 2... Well possibly 2.5 so I figured I'd turn here for some of ya'lls advice...

1) 05 Roadster in South Bend IN... Talked to shop on a few occasions now and have pictures of imperfections with the body. There is like 3 scratches total and he says it runs fine. I am pondering an independent inspection on this one. Oh it has 42k on the clock.

2) 05 SRT with 52 k on the clock. Few surfaces scratches but nuttin major. Car is currently north of NyC buy was there there for sandy... Was it Florida still. Issues with it haven been a faulty master Cylinder (repaired by dealer) and it has the h20 in the trunk from the wings seal. He did not catch it in time and electronics went haywire. All issues were repaired/replaced by dealer. My stomach just worries about potential rust and after the dealer fixes the issue is it truly 'fixed'?

.5) 05 coupe... Nothing really special to mention except it has 32k and is a single owner.

All cars have new tires >1000 miles old

I know ultimately it is up to me but any advice or thought are greatly appreciated

Marc

you dont need a lawyer to get a settlement ! I got 2 settlements on my own just dealing with their ins. Then I went to my own agent & asked if this was a good deal ! My agent told me it was a great deal & to take it ! So when they are done paying the bills & paying off the car just ask them what kind of settlement offer they are willing to make ! I told them I did not want to hire a lawyer if I didnt have to if they would make me an offer ! All worked out twice for me no lawyers !!
