Default Dead battery replaced, dash remains on when car is off

As the title states, my battery died so I replaced it. Today after driving for 4 hours, I noticed that my dash is still on, the clock is ticking minutes away in seconds and the key is still in my hand. It's not started. Has anyone heard of this?

So every second the clock changes?
The LCD gauges all stay on as long as the lights are on, but the clock ticking away in seconds is a new one.
I'd disconnect the battery for a few minutes and try again.

That's correct. The hour stays the same but the minutes roll like seconds. No lights are on though. I will try disconnecting the battery and posting my results. Thanks
