I am partial to chrome, but now having seen it without and painted body color, it kind of grows on you!

Not so much too light, more like too blue - Machine is slightly darker and bluer than Graphite but that's just way too blue - might be the primer, might be because it's on plastic rather than metal - or maybe the mix is just wrong!
Nice look, though

right after i oerdered the paint i think i saw that they had different options for like inside engine bay outside paint like 3 or 4 different options so i may have recived the wrong one, yes thats good insight because its on plastic may play a role in it . eh alls well that ends well thought! it doesnt look horrible . now i have to replace my drivers side light on tuesday! which will be fun

How was it applied? The proper way is to apply a coat of adhesion promoter to any bare plastic, then a coat of primer followed by the color and it really needs to be mixed well, even the spray cans. Then if you want, clear coat it. If using a gun, it doesn't have to be an expensive one.

I do think the color matched grills look good, though I left the silver horizontal bars on mine to match with the windshield surround and side strakes

Graphite metallic has 4+ paint varients as well, they are tough colors to match 100%, especially from a can...
