Default Anybody tried Akebono brake pads (etc...)?

I am stumped trying to decide on brake pads. The car will never see track time but will see daily driver use in all non-snow weather (wet & dry from 25 to 110 degrees F.) and may needed for panic stops because of deer or idiot drivers (no race pads that need to be kept warm to work).

I REALLY would like something that requires less work to keep the wheels clean than the unknown pads on the car now. This has me looking at ceramic instead of semi-metallic.

1) Do ceramic pads work well or am I giving up performance for cleanliness?

2)Anybody ever try Akebono brand "Euro Ultra Premium Ceramic" pads? (they are "favorites" on RockAuto)

3)Suggestions welcome!

Thanks

Do a quick search and you'll find tons of posts on Akebono, Posi-Quiet, Rotex, Duralast, etc...

I put Rotex Golds on mine three years ago and love 'em. Zero dust compared to OEM pads.

I have the Akebenos, they squealed at first when I got the car and I was going to change them, but I took them off and saw they had no backing and were free of any grease on the back, so I put on some grease and the squeal went. There is waaay less dust than the OEM pads, so much so you can say dust free unless you are really picky.

Just put Akebono's on my XF a few weeks ago. They work very well. Just bed them in ( take them up to 60mph, then down to 20mph. Do this about 6-8 times to seat them in ) No squels, very little dusting. So far I like them. Only have about 200 miles on them, time will tell!
