Plastidip. Has anyone seen this?
Re: Plastidip. Has anyone seen this?
EXACTLY you can do a cool finish you wont get the metallic finish it will be a matte color or you can use the glossifier and it will give it a shiny finish
Re: Plastidip. Has anyone seen this?
Like I said, I've been watching lots of videos and pictures. When done incorrectly it looks bad. I've watched a lot of videos from places that do this for a living and the result it pretty amazing.
I'm also looking at vinyl wrap places that can do a "paint" vinyl wrap that looks like paint. So I'll probably end up doing that.
Lots of close mindedness here with little information. If you know me and my cars, you'll know I don't do anything half assed. My Xfire was one of the cleanest and best looking ones anywhere.

If its done right it looks good.. I love the stuff. I used it on my emblems and it has the perfect satin black powdercoat look, but I can peel it off at any time. It's very resistant to rock chips, but still comes off easily once you lift an edge. If you do a whole car it will look horrible if you use the rattle cans, it'll only look even if you use the whole car kit with the gun.

For the record I wouldn't be doing this with rattle cans. LOL Why does everyone always think about some dummy doing stuff in his garage with some beer and ruining his car. I'm taking it to a professional detail/paint shop that does this. If I don't like it I'll peel it off. I'm having my Porsche wrapped in gloss vinyl white to compare the difference. Its 23 years old and the original paint is still glossy but not as bright as it used to be. Needs to be refreshed but a new paint job is 6.5k :O
We'll see how this turns out. Need to decide which SRT I'm going to buy. I've been racking my brain going over the negatives and positives. Not crazy about modded cars, but so many of the SRTs are modded. The original cars are way over my budget. sucks.

As for the Plasti-dip, I've simply seen too many train-wrecks in person. Professional examples exist, but the same can be said for crushed velvet interiors. As with anything, if you do it properly you'll get good results. It's all in the technician applying it, and the prep-work.

i don't mind people who keep the xfire OEM and like it that way or people like me who want to keep modifying it as long as the work is quality i see nothing wrong with the spectrum...but I personally don't like the new fad with most of the younger generation now a days with putting flamboyant colors (bright orange, teal, pink, lime green) on there rims that totally ruin the contrast with the color of their cars...
