Default warranty TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY

Hello, I was offered to extend my dealership warrenty through chrysler. My current warrenty last untill 3/14 so i have about a year left.

The offer that they are giving me will extend may warrenty untill 3/19 "5years". It is the same bumper to bumper warrenty i currently have. The cost is about 3k and that were im stuck.

The same warrent i have now caused me 1500 4 years ago, I have only used this warrenty twice for a total warrenty repair amount of 700$. So inturn i loss money but i have had a peace of mind for the last 4 years.

my car currently has 59k miles on it.

Would you buy this warrenty for 3k if you were in my shoes.

I never buy any extended warranties, and have never regretted it. $3000 for peace of mind seems like too much money. I'd take my chances on nothing major going wrong with my Crossfire. Put the $3000 into a bank account for emergencies.

What I came across recently won't work in your case, but I thought I might mention it again for everyone's possible future purchases. I traded in one of my XFs for a new vehicle for my wife.....Ford's warranty = 3/36 + 5/60 powertrain......when I went into my GEICO account to change the coverage they offered to extend the "Major-Mechanical" coverage of the "NEW" vehicle to 7 year / 100,000 miles .....cost is <$18 per 6 months. So the cost over 7 years is about $250 total & it is $250 deductible.......but since the new vehicle is a turbo ....I thought it was a good idea to buy the extra coverage.

When I bought a warranty on my 08 Roadster, I was told to shop around. I did - and found a good source. I will PM you - as I don't know if it is ok to post this info on the forum site. (Tighed1 sent me the source - I can't recall if it was in a PM).

Gotta tell you that I love peace of mind......not having any mechanical ability. Alicia

I bought the Chrysler extended warranty on my roadster after I got a look at all the cables for the soft top. The only issue I had in 7 years was the tpms icon and it was not worth the $100 deductible to fix it. I agree with banking the $3k. I wish I had saved the $1400 I spent in 2005.

Extended warrantees are insurance for the next XXX Years. You pay up front, if you get a problem then the deductable (premium) will payfor it. Some folks get $50 deductable on insurance for it is easier to come upwith $50 dollar rather than $100+. Because of this you are paying for it aheadof time. Extended warrantees do not have to come from Chrysler but any dealernow sells them to anyone. A Honda Dealer will sell you an extended Warranteefor your “used” car. If you take the time to keep up on the maintenance, fromyour manual or WEB Site then most likely your investment on the extended warranteeis the same as maintenance service. I want no concerns so I try to get theCrossfire into the service center for my Oil, Lube. Replacement parts etc.
