'06 Crossfire Limited, problem on way home
I have a 2006 Crossfire limited, standard drive. Last night on my way home from work i had many of my dashboard lights come on such as and the regular illumination light went dim. Then my radio slowly went out. I rolled my window down as i drove, but then it would not power back up. My spoiler went to the extended position even as i was below 60mph. Also spoiler light came on. I only live a few miles from work so i didnt drive a long time. The car never felt different other that the lights/windows/spoiler situation. Once i got home, I shut off the car and then tried to start it back up but it just clicked without starting up. This morning I was able to put the window up and start to reposition car, but to start it was like a struggle as if it wasnt getting power, like a near dead battery. I replace the battery about a year and a half ago. Once I moved the car, I shut it down and tried to restart it just to see what happens. This time when I turned the key I didnt even get a clicking sound. Im at a loss, not sure what to do or where to start. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you, everyone.
This car is much more sensitive to voltage changes than most. I have a feeling your alternator crapped out and the resulting battery drain left you where you are now. Had very similar symptoms with a couple of former cars.
Go to Lowes or Radio Shack and get a cheap multimeter. Measure the voltage right at the battery with engine off, you should see 12 to 13 volts.
Start the engine and the voltage should rise to 13.5 to 14.5 volts.
If you dont see the rise, the alternator has quit working (as was mentioned above).
ALSO, look over battery terminals for corrosion, then follow the battery ground cable down to where it terminates in a lug at a chasssis bolt - mine was REALLY corroded there - I ended up replacing the battery ground cable.
If it isn't a bad, corroded cable, then Either your alternator has quit or your battery has failed.

ok thanks, i'll look into this.

ok, ill try this. good info. thank you very much.
The Torque I'm using shows that when I first start my car, the voltage is 13+...after it's run a while, it's been as low as 12.5 volts...should I consider replacing the alternator?
Like PG said, you should see 13.5 to 14.5 volts with engine running.
It should NOT be dropping back into the 12v range.
Here is what my Torque showed today: The higher voltage was when I first started/drove...as the car heated up, the voltage went down.
Is that when the 2 10,000 watt amps kicked in?.
Don't think mine has ever dropped that low.. don't think yours should either under "normal" circumstances. Might check the condition of your belt and tensioner pully.

I will check that today...the belt _looks_ good...maybe some belt dressing? I understand, though, that it's not good for serpentine belts.
Well, changed out the negative cable...no difference in the voltage readings...going to change out the positive side in the next day or two...
