2004 crossfire engine shuts off
It seems that after I drive about 1 minute and put my car into park 20 seconds later the engine shuts off and won't restart for about 5-10 minutes. When it does restart the check engine light comes on. After starting and restarting 3 times the check engine light goes out.
I work right across from a McDonalds and I go there for lunch. It's about a minute drive there. I guess I should just start walking now if this keeps happening.
Does any one have any idea at all why the engine would just shut off completely? The radio and everything else works just the car cranks and won't turn over for about 5 minutes.

Possibly the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Do a search on here. It's a 50 dollar part and a 10 minute install. See this thread. https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...on-sensor.html
It also could be the engine computer management system. There is a thread on here about that as well. A fix that will save you thousands.
Good Luck

Is that the part I need?
No, that's not the part. I'll see if I can find a Bosch for you. It's best to get a good one. There are a lot out there and many will will fine / OK but some on here have suggested getting the Bosch.
Back in a minute.
Back in a minute.
Thank you sir!
I found this. Is this one it?
There are many out there,. You can do a search and buy one from multiple souces. I haven't found a BOSCH yet but you probably can. You can also search for a 2004 Mercedes SLK 320 and it will be the same type. Here's 3 options on this site. Keep searching for Bosch and / or better prices. Replacing it with any other them should help immediately if this is indeed the issue. You may want to go by Advance auto or a shop which will plug in and run a code check for free first, to see what iit says before buying anything. Chrysler Crossfire Crankshaft Position Sensor - Free Shipping - Replacement, Beck Arnley, Standard
That looks like it and is should fit given it's for a SLK 320. See my previous post about getting a code run for free first.
Okay will do. I'll run the code at auto zone. Would anything pop up with out a check engine light being on? Also I'll see if advanced or auto zone has this part too
Good luck and post back what this ends up being.
Anytime someone has posted about CEL lights.. if it's off Autozone tells them come back when its on.

I'll see if it stalls out any more or has trouble starting any more and keep you posted. Thanks again for the help. Much appreciated. Saved me a trip to the dealers and probably saved me around $400 figure a diagnoses from a dealer is $100 and the OEM part from them is $100 and the amount of time pep boys wanted would probably be the same at the dealers so another $200. So $400 from the dealers most likely and with you help I spent $50. Thanks again!
