Yes, the first go around with painting the mesh grill and windshield surround was a bit over the top red.

I'm quite pleased with these results...though I suspect it won't be with many others.

I want to add that the color on the windshield surround looks somewhat washed out in the photo. It's not.

The interior leather is the dark slate gray and cedar. Hardly a match, but in the ball park.

Well you're on the right track. Keep darkening till you get to a black or ebony hue. How about a "cherry black" ?

Always thought Black Cherry would have been a great color for these cars.

At the risk of stating the obvious, the model name is CrossFire or XFire. Sure fire is more yellow, but that doesn't cut it. And should you suggest I should have gone with flames - that was never a consideration - though I'm surprised I've not seen some XF's with that addition.

I'd had the grill painted in black. Should I have wanted something so close to black it would have to be in very bright light to notice...why bother. Meaning the mesh black grill was far too dead looking, and the silver windshield surround screamed - Look at me!

And you're obviously not taking into consideration the interior color, which is generally referred to as red, since yours is probably, umm, gray.

This is neither here-nor-there, but here are the two 'reds'. The leather is red combined with yellow. The maroon is red combined with purple.

I had no intentions of matching the paint with the seat color. So vaguely ballparkish was fine (with me).
