17" wheels?
i was wondering if anyone knew if 17" wheels would fit on the car as i know someone who has a set off an slk with snowtires that i might buy if they will fit. i know that it says 18" is the smallest recomended but just wanted to check and see if anyone has tried this. thanks
Yes 17" rims will work. Tire Rack sold me winter tires all mounted on 17" rims. They changed the tire size to match the diameter of the original tires.

I got 17x8 ASA AR1 SML rims. The offset is fine. I don't have pictures yet. Tires for the front are 225/45vr-17 Dunlop Winter Sport M3. The rears are 255/45HR-17 Dunlop Winter Sport M3. I have not noticed any difference in handling. I also put 70Lbs. of sand in the rear. Purchase price for total set up was $1581.37 delivered. The person I talked to at tirerack.com was Brandon-EXT 287.
Will any of the 17's work? Ones that can be mounted on a slk320 should work right? Because im looking at purchasing the ones on close out, and tosing some BLizzaks on it. I guess the only way to be sure is to call. Thanks this was probably the most helpful thread ever on this forum.

Hey X'ed what you think of the sport edition tk5 from tire rack i think im going to buy 'em. Cheap enough and dont look too bad, they are winter rims after all.
I think they look fine... fill up the wheel wells with the taller tires.......... actually for a GT car they are a better (smoother) ride... all these posts about racing are just teenagers with too much testostorone... most of us need commuters with a smooth ride... these things only have 215 hp, we can get beat by a $17000 v-6 Mustang with more power than we have... Car and Driver has it at 6.7 to 60, that's right up there with a Passat.
