Default Painting machined exterior trim pieces

I want to paint the chrome strip above my windshield as well as the slats on the fender. Has anyone had any experiences doing this? Just looking for tips and heads-up things before I jump in. My plan so far is to mask the area around it and plasti-dip the pieces while they're on the car, just fyi. Thanks in advance!

If you are going to paint the window trim, I would remove it. If you are plasti-dip spraying them, leave the trim on the car.
