Default Should I Turbo?

Hi I have a 2004 coupe and was wondering if it would be better to install a turbo, or to try and track down an srt-6 supercharger.

Oh boy here we go again.
Congratulations on the car.
Use the search function any you can read for days on turbos and the challenges it represents with these cars.

Do research here, but the simple answer ( if you want to stay with Crossfire ) :
Sell the 2004, buy a SRT6.

I wish I had a dollar for every post I've seen that asked the same question.
The OP should ask Tighed1 for his opinion.

If you have endless funding do it. Trying to get it done with any kind of budget and stock functionality is out of the question. Unfortunately.

No one has been able to get a turbo to work. NO ONE! Your motor isn't the same as the SRT6, so that won't work either. There has been one supercharged, but it took a lot work of time and really turned out NOT to be best thing to do. Buying an SRT6 would have been cheaper...sorry....

To be fair who has really tried themselves. Nobody! The closest we got is a shop that took the longest 2 weeks ever. Who actually mounted a turbo in their car and really tried??

Import Lab took off his supercharger and E/C put a turbo on so it's been done. Let's just say it's a lot easier on a SRT-6 than a N/A Crossfire. You can figure out why.

Would it be the 280,000 lines of coding vs. 20,000 lines coding in a dodge, Chevrolet or ford from 2004????

The ME is not programmed to see positive intake pressure. You will also over run MAF voltage very quickly, so adjusting fueling for boost will be difficult at best.

Good awanser.
Is just one bar (atmosphere, 14.7) to much to ask for.
Can it handle neutral pressure or even a couple lbs over, 3-5, 5-7??
Exactly what would be the limit.
Dcai with horns in front instead of filters and have filters farther back.
Or can it not even handle that?

No biggie, I know what you meant.
Just gets aggregating at times with the lack of options on a mb platform.

THIS is why shoppers for a Crossfire should just go straight for the SRT6 out of the gate. It's easy and inexpensive to get to 435-450 brake hp, low 12s and 4 second 0-60 times in a balanced daily driver. I am very happy to get to 1968 427 Shelby AC Cobra power to weight ratio in a vastly more modern, rare and beautiful car. Yes, it then gets harder to add hp. I'm waiting on dyno results for Rob's headers/exhaust system to see it more can be had at a reasonable price...or I could add NOS.

I totally understand that preference. If you ever get a chance to try a Crossfire with the paddle shifter mod, I think you'd be very very happy. Until I added paddle shifters, I was on your side, lamenting the lack of full control that a manual gives you.
