Default Wind noise problem

Hey guys! Just picked up my 2005 x-fire today! I got it through the corporate lease program which means a had to get one that has been sitting in port on the east coast for quite a while (they're not selling too well) aside from it shipping with adhesive all over the exterior (that was a pain to remove) the only other problem I noticed is this:

At speeds above 60 or so I get a loud wind sound on the drivers and pasengers side that seems to be coming from where the front of the window meets the door. I think it might be a problem with the weather strip along the windows not being flush and allowing air flow (although I can't feel any air coming in)

Has anybody else had any trouble with this? Thanks guys!

Go to the TSB forum and look on page 2. There is a bulletin on this problem. Also, you can do a search on each forum, using "wind noise" and it will give you all of the threads, if any, in that forum. This was apparently a common problem on the 04's. I road tested one that was terrible at 60 mph, and that sold me on the 05. I have zero wind noise....so far.

Hope this helps.
John

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I will take it back to the dealership after the month ends and the sales close rush is over.

Hey psyanide - I've had this problem too. My dealer agreed to take in the car and try to figure it out. I'm just waiting for them to get in my new radio that I had to have ordered before dropping the car off. Congrats on the car nonetheless!

I am going through the same thing... took it to the dealer and they replaced the weather stripping at the front corner of the door but my windnoise is at the top (go figure)... In the process of (not) solving the wind noise problem they succeeded in tearing my recently installed tint, scratching the window glass, installing the weather stripping incorrectly and spilling coke in my drivers seat!!!

I am so pissed off right now it isn't funny. They have agreed to listen for the wind noise and fix the tint, but COME ON!!! How un professional is that...

I am still ahving the first gear problem (in a major way)... Mine has popped out atleast 30 times in the last month. They tell me my car in not affected. Well apparently it IS
They tell me my build date is beyond the first gear issue... Aug 2003 build number 5454???

Sorry... Didn't realize I had all that built up inside... Rant over......

The wind noise problem is fixable per the service bulletins. The door panels have to be removed in order to do it right. It is an all day job, so hopefully you have a good service department or they won't want to bother.
