Default Engine Light Came On Now It's Gone

Hello everyone, I'm concerned with my 2005 Xfire, I've had it for about a month and half now, purchased at 118k miles. Its been running , but lately I'm feeling as if I'm not getting enough power when I accelerate. Just recently the check engine light came on, and later in the day it had went off and hasn't returned as of yet. Im going to take it to the dealership under the powertrain warranty I purchased from them, however I want the opinion and advice from other Xfire enthusiasts. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas , or a.y questions for me, please feel free. Any help is greatly welcomed and thanks in advance.

Before you go to the stealership, go to a local auto parts place and see if there are codes set in the OBD port. Write them down, come back here and post them. Have you tried the TB (Throttle Body) reset yet? Two simple things could save you the deductible! Good luck!

If your check engine light came on, I know what it is.

Something set a code.

For your Info. Codes were stored and are on the computer so, you need to get them read even though the light is no longer on.

Crank shaft position P0335
I went to the nearest auto shop today, and this is the reading I got.

Here ya go:
https://www.germanautosupply.com/mer...ensor-393.html

Order two, one for the engine, one as a spare that, in about three years, you will need. Ask me why I say that, I DARE you!

Your CPS is only acting up at this point, if it tripped that code and then cleared itself so the Check Engine Light went out. Where the CPS is mounted, it gets exposed to a lot of engine heat and eventually the sensor goes bad. Many times, you can sit awhile and let the engine cool off and the CPS will work again hopefully long enough for you to get back home. But when it fails, you'll be left sitting on the side of the rode. So as pizzaguy has suggested, buy two - one to install now & one to keep as a spare. Just about all of us have a spare CPS, with the required tooling, somewhere in our cars if we're traveling any major distance from home. Been There; Done That!

And we all recommend you get the Bosch version. Most of the other aftermarket versions of this sensor are not as reliable.

Later,

And the Bosch Code Scanner is a good one. The Model 1200 I have (goes for around $230-$240) will clear the SRS (Airbag) Warning Light. Not many of the code scanners will do that. Bought my Bosch Model 1200.at O'Reilly Auto Parts.

Ratchet, external torx socket, 4or 5 inch extension, a lot of patience.
I can't remember the size, get an external torx set with the smaller size sockets - maybe 1/4 or 3/8 inch drive.

I think the Torx socket size is E8. I use a 1/4' drive ratchet with either a 6" long flex shaft extension or a 6" wobble extension. The 8 mm Torx Head Cap Screw holding the CPS in place is underneath the CPS sensor. PITA to get to. And be careful when removing the screw to avoid dropping it. I'd recommend replacing the Torx Head Cap Screw with a normal Metric Socket Head Cap Screw. You ought to be able to get one at any local hardware store (i.e.,Home Deport, Lowe's,etc.). As pizzaguy stated, have some patience when performing this repair.
