Default My $500.00 Crossfire

I've never participated on the forum before, so this could end up in an inappropriate place. I read the post about one gentleman's journey to Crossfire ownership, so I thought you might enjoy my story.
I first became aware of the Crossfire sometime in 2002 and really got excited. I wrote Chrysler to get more information, ended up on a mailing list and received many pieces of promotional material over the next year. The first Crossfire to arrive in Montana was in our town, and I was allowed to take it for a spirited test drive. I loved the car and the color (SSB), but due to a hip and knee replacement on my right side it didn't have enough seat travel for me. Having been heavily into Corvettes for many years, I walked away from the Crossfire and bought another Corvette. In 2011 I had the opportunity to drive one again. In the interim I had the hip redone and apparently I ended up with more range of motion and was comfortable driving it. That launched me on a search for a low mile example.

Now let me address the title of this post.....Back around 1989 I sold a 1966 Corvette that had a mint set of 5 Kelsey Hayes knock-off wheels on it. The buyer wanted to put custom wheels on the car and asked how much I would reduce the price without the wheels. I told him $500.00 and the deal was struck. A few weeks later a buddy of mine asked me if I would sell them. I told him I didn't know what they were worth. He said that they were worth $2,000.00 to him and another deal was struck. Well, the Hunt Brothers had just wrecked the silver market and silver was selling around $5.00 per ounce. I spent my two grand on silver and brought home two bags full. Fast forward to 2011 (when I took the second drive in a Crossfire). Silver is now in the $35.00 per ounce range, so I cashed it in and bought a 2004 coupe with 5700 miles on it. I loved the car, but soon became aware of the SRT6 and started another search. I had spent several years driving a seven second dragster, so I was fascinated by the extra horsepower. I sold the red car to the mayor of our town and located a 2005 SSB SRT6 coupe with 5300 miles on it for the same money. Thus my $500.00 Crossfire!

Hi Gary,

Just saw your post in marketplace. Love the Sharper Image car but already have one + a parts car missing the mirrors!I I see you sold your Crossfire - I am sure whoever got it was very happy as I know it was like new. This was a great story and I hope you find something as cool as the Crossfire to drive!

Take care, Ron and Jean
